I think we are overestimating what GM thinks is a cheap car- when they say less profitable I’d guess they mean $39k chevy work trucks and not $88k gmc Denalis. I doubt they are going to make Trax out the whazoo just to have something at the same price of a Maverick.

2.5, automatic, and running air conditioning will get you a 1/4 mile time in the high 20's low 30's.  i think the only chevy slower would be the chevette diesel.

Those are crap wheels for this little car. They look to be asa ar1's at 21lbs a piece. to keep this thing zippy, it should be on enkei rpf1's at 9.5 lbs a piece.

I kinda like it. It shows motion.  It says this mall crawler can rise to the occasion. And speaking of malls, when there are 27 white jeeps in a row you will be able to tell which one is yours at a glance. Misprinted pennies can be worth thousands of dollars. In 2016 the local ford dealer had a left over 2015 fiesta 4 door with a manual discounted to $9999.  I knew that was the last new car I’d ever see with a 4 digit price tag. There may have been a few since but those were smoke and mirror prices only doable if you qualified for every possible rebate and incentive…

if they had been smart enough to put 6 speed automatics in them, hwy 25mpg or better would have been possible. A modern f150 goes about 4465lbs? and has worse aero.

I noticed the only dealership in town with a glut of cars is the Hyundai dealer - Everybody else is parking their vehicles 6 feet apart so it looks like the lot is full.  Cant help but think it is because the Koreans are smart enough to have a semiconductor industry and not rely on the chinese for everything.

It steers like a truck only more vague with a 1/4 turn of slop, the brakes are scary non existent, and the only reason it looks quick is the 27% speedometer error. [ these were my observations after driving my grandfather’s unrestored 66 mustang convertible about 10 years ago. ]

i had a rental versa 10 years ago and hated that my leg pressed against the console. could have easily been 8 inches more legroom there if they tried.
