Dune 2 was the first time since Dunkirk that I’ve really felt exhilaration in a movie theatre. Acting aside, it’s my early vote for Directing, Editing, Cinematography, Adapted Screenplay, VFX, Sound, Production Design, Costuming.

To be fair, Rodgers got through his first five minutes of his Jeopardy hosting gig without tearing his Achilles tendon, so he did have more success there than he’s had at football recently.

I’m not talking in terms of what’s worse in the eyes of the law, I’m talking about what’s actually worse to the end consumer. Knowing that your car can be stolen in a matter of seconds and the manufacturer has done nothing to fix it is the bigger deal.

Dark Shadows, Alice and Charlie all sucked. They all felt like Burton parodies. Big Fish is a great film and should be pushing top 10.

I also agree. It’s a fantastic film. Probably my favorite of his.

I’d place Big Fish much higher, especially over Dark Shadows. Yeh, it’s corny at times, but also kinda delightful and the episodic nature of it works well...

Not even a nod to his role as The Spleen in Mystery Men? That movie was amazing and he was pure gold in it.

Man Rolling Thunder is such a fucking good movie. Got to see it on the big screen just recently, shocking as ever and it still holds up. Young Tommy Lee Jones already flexing his acting chops too.

According to the piece, the buyer choose to remain anonymous, which makes sense. If not, they would likely be hunted down, quite literally, by collectors and buyers making offers for the card.

This is somewhat complex, but short version is (in order of probability) that we might be getting back two Hartnell episodes, believed to be two episodes of The Smugglers, which was announced back in January as the next animated recon... which seemed an odd choice at the time, given it was a 100% missing story and one

I really hope that Doctor Who has a presence this year, because if the rumors are true, there might be some truly huge news for classic series fans coming down the pipeline. (Though they may also keep it under their hats until the next BFI event)

They’re really going for Stahlman’s Gas. Wake me when the earth start’s screaming its rage.

I’ve figured out why actors love to appear in Wes Anderson’s movies: all they have to do is stand around wearing literally one costume the entire shoot, and it’s easy work because they don’t have to express any emotion, merely recite the dialogue in the most clipped, robotic fashion possible.

The last time a trailer was this Wes Anderson it was Grand Budapest Hotel and it was one of his best so Lets. Fucking. Go.

Let the hipster backlash commence! It’s Wes Anderson being Wes Anderson and I’m all in. It looks like Tom Hanks got the Bill Murray part.

It’s like ChatGPT makes entire movies now.

Same for this Gen Xer.

Shawshank is my favorite movie of all time. Totally kills my weekend afternoon, when I happen to catch it on the TV when taking a break. I have sat through FG exactly once.  No desire to ever watch it again.

I’d say Roma was snubbed when Green Book won. Probably only didn’t win because it was on Netflix.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen this now. Three times during its theatrical run, many more rentals. The whole thing is gorgeously shot & scored and is utterly mesmerizing to me.
