Not just that, there’s issues with the injectors high velocity jet washing oil off the piston walls, EGR gases, etc. Using direct and port injection might allow an engine designer to use reasonably small direct injectors for normal operation and adding in the port injectors at high load.

Yup, I also think port injection has benefits at certain rpm and load conditions over direct, but lacking the precise dispersion and metering characteristics that make direct injection better from an overall performance and efficiency standpoint.

You know you can do a helicoil yourself. It does not involve a drill. You need the tap and a tap handle. Just go slowly and flush out the pan with a few quarts of oil.
