I never got why Americans uses cups as measures- not only are scales more accurate but they let you scale up or down the recipe.

It tends to be a ritual practiced across Europe- I’ve had schnapps in Germany, pastis in France, lemoncello in Italy, pacharan in Spain, honey rum in the Canaries and plum brandy (slivovitz?) in Poland and many others I’ve forgotten. All on the house after the meal.
