.....You own a car company.
It’s not the rod failing. If you look at the discolouration on the big end, you can see it’s the rod bearing that failed. Out of round from 225k of pounding, oil starvation, beyond serviceable tolerances for something in “severe use” for 19 hours, just pick one of the above or multiples.
It lived a long life and died a glorious death in a race, what more could a connecting rod ask for? That’s better than rotting in some never-driven garage queen.
Hello Kitty while rebuilding a 10-bolt for auto-x :D
I would only pay interest on the $15k of the lease.
I work as an analyst for one of the automakers. I lease a vehicle, and per the advice of someone who works in our finance division, NEVER PUT MONEY DOWN ON A LEASE.
Although it may not seem like it from my name, I am a huge Mustang fan and owner that has grown to laugh at crowd hunting jokes.
Fake news! I’ve been getting speeding tickets in manual-transmission cars for years now. YEARS.
When I see an AWD BMW I always think, “Really? You wanted your BMW to be MORE complex with MORE stuff to fail??”
Isn’t RWD half the point of a BMW?
i couldn’t keep up with my 83k mile 2002 540i/6 either...
It’s a decently nice price, especially if you can haggle it down a bit. The miles mean nothing for the M52TU engine, those things can run well past 200k as long as you don’t overheat them. Compared to a 540i this has way fewer failure points— no chain guides to break, no automatic transmission to break, no valley pan…
KBB just isn’t that useful for relatively rare cars with cult followings like manual wagons.
I have a 2001 528it with the Automatic, Bought it for 2K with a thick stack of receipts and it needed a Throttle Body. Complete Cooling system replacement at 100K, shocks, bushings etd had all been done before I bought it. Uses a quart every 1,500 miles, in the last eight months, I have replaced all the pulleys, Got…
From Wikipedia:
e39: Curb weight1,480–1,800 kg (3,260–3,970 lb)
Current 3 series:
Curb weight
F30: 1,475–1,737 kg (3,252–3,829 lb)[10]
It feels strange to say this, but say all of the above in a 328 wagon and it’s NP, but 5 series and it’s too large to enjoy thrashing.
Broken families, organized crime, and overly dramatic racers...it’s a movie about IMSA!
I need it big enough so that could fit two adults and two kids.
Most daily driven ITB engines I’ve seen have some kind of box surrounding them with an air filter leading into it. Like the infamous BMW “snake pit.”
