Jerry of Garcia suggested it might be because I am one of those leprous gray people here on FA :0).

Well, lately, Tyler rarely seems to read comments, or at least reply to them; unless if they say things like “great article” or “I was there”. Which is a shame, because I’d like to see his opinion on topics beyond the article. The last time he replied to me was before Christmas.

It’s a serious crime that you are still in the “show pending”, but luckily, someone always spots your comments.

Paste the entire link here and then I’ll give it a try (I can’t open the video from that link).

Indeed. You as well. Was thinking of you recently when I saw several photos on Facebook of S-3s at the boneyard.

I haven’t watched this year’s, but I’ve seen past years. Hornet Ball or Strike Fighter Ball depending on the year.

We flew down the beach at Myrtle Beach, SC. I don’t recall that in the safety briefing. We took the long tour and there were just 2 of us and the pilot in a Robinson R44.

I haven’t seen it yet, I just did a YouTube search and then there’s an arrowish symbol that lets you Copy a Link... Then you paste it. It may not work if you’re in the grey, still don’t know why you are... If you respond to me I’ll always turn you black.

The Cushing proved you could upgrade the platform and have a capable ship. We had a RAM launcher in the rear and the VLS is the same as the Burkes so we could have moved to the new Sparrows as well. You could remove the rear Sparrow and mounted RAM launcher with an R2 unit on it at that location and had one hell of an

Thinking about this is very scary for me. I’ve tried holding my breath and I can barely managed about 30 seconds before I’m so uncomfortable I have to take a breath. Not sure how I’d hold my breath for the minute+ that’s probably required to escape a sinking vehicle and get to the surface.

I read somewhere that if you don’t get out fairly quickly, though, you’ll lose your bouyancy and may not be able to tell which way is up, especially if it’s dark when you go in the drink.

Now playing

The duck landed upside down in the water, the helo crew got everyone out in quick fashion and we had the boat in the water within seconds. Would could feel the impact across a lot of the ship it hit so hard, we thought for sure people were dead. Lots of awards were earned that day, the ceremony for them last FOREVER.

Yeah this is one of the reasons the Coast Guard has a simulator at Pensacola that is basically a HH-60J cabin that flips upside down in a pool. You practice how to get out quickly in case of an emergency.

Not a pilot but, well.. thats it. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Is that so you don’t get caught inside when it rolls over?

Hey at least that helicopter didnt have any windows. That is always the part that fucks people up: resisting the urge to unbuckle your harness before you pop the window out.

Having flown on helicopter tours, they have a fixed flight plan they fly. No deviations allowed.

Huh. That’s probably why the Navy has those cool (terrifying) helo crash simulators that dump you in water and then tip you upside down.
