You’re right, I meant to say preproduction prototypes. Yes, they have had those driving around for a few months now.
They have had test mules driving all over Southern California for months. They’ve got a legitimate product (almost) done. Whether or not they can find a way to fund mass production, we’ll see...
As a mechanical engineer living in LA, I can certainly attest that there’s a lot of talented engineers here working their asses off to make this car happen. The company might be DOA financially, but there’s no vaporware to speak of.
Nice to see that Jalopnik is now posting pure 100% shitposts at the top of the front page.
I can roughly confirm this.

“The Wall Street Journal reported in June that the new iPhone would be one millimeter thinner, putting it at around 6.1 compared to the 6.3mm we have now.” Uhh what?
Glad to see there’s a healthy amount of FSAE alums here! I’m a current Formula student, myself. The electric cars with 4 hub motors which can do torque vectoring correctly are simply unbelievable to watch on track! Prague was at FSAE Lincoln this weekend and it was very impressive.
Ah, right I think I recall reading about that system. well as long as it isn’t the Haldex system which is effectively FWD most of the time!
Is there any word on whether or not this car has a haldex quattro system like the A3/S3, or the torsen from the larger Audis? A switch to the haldex would be a pretty big blow as well.
These assholes are enjoying the entertainment and laughing as $600,000 of taxpayer spending literally disintegrates.
Jalopnik isn’t journalism.
The Eau Rouge was never anywhere close to production. Ask anyone who drove it or rode in it and they will tell you about how it was a complete pile of shit to drive. The standard GTR transmission wouldn’t fit due to packaging issues, and the only other thing that could handle the power was the tranny from the QX. God…
This is probably the most informative article I’ve read within the jalopnik network in months. Great writing!! Perfect level of detail for someone just getting into moto gp who likes the technical stufff!
As someone from the “smartphone generation,” no I actually hate this trend too. It's ugly.
Did you misspell her name a dozen times on purpose, or...?
Based on my dimensional analysis, it does indeed work out.
Also, I believe it was Kvyat’s first podium ever, not just this season.
Consequently, Red Bull starts ahead of Mercedes, as their engine penalties were applied first.
No matter how many times I look at this I can’t get past how much this looks like a videogame still. So overprocessed.
