No comparison to the Tacoma, Ranger, or Gladiator? Even without the Gladiator in there (personal bias) you left out the most popular midsize truck and the one that will be on the same lot?

It’s a nice thought but every idea just adds to the cost. You want a bunch of different bed sizes? Pony up $1M+ per stamping tool. Different wheel bases mean different chassis designs, more testing, more tooling, more production line changeovers.
Give me 2 minutes with a set of calipers and I can have you those dimensions, they’re just keeping people from wasting plastic making sure it fits the first time.
You got me curious and today I learned something....
Serious question, what other car culture group is larger than these trucks in NC where the law was written? I live in NC and this is the biggest trend that I see and probably the most dangerous. Second would be trucks just straight lifted 12"+, but that leads me to the caveat
NC resident here. Typically this is a white guy trend.
Stance mostly destroys your own car. These will destroy everyone else’s
As a resident of NC I come across these trucks all the time, and the squat is only part of the problem. But truthfully safety is a serious concern - your fellow writers at Jalopnik bitch nonstop about how big trucks are but you’re defending making the front end higher while lowering the rear, changing driving position…
It doesn’t always help. My car is electric blue and I’ve been nearly hit by inattentive drivers more times than I can count
Transmissions in 2018+ wranglers and the gladiator are cable shift and very non-truck like. I had an ‘05 with the horrible NSG370 that shifted like my old F150 but it never bothered me. Also, the 2-door versions ride the worst of all of them but the ride never bothered me in my old one or in my Gladiator, it’s part of…
Do it. Everyone here talks tons of shit on Jeeps but Jeep sells tons of them for a reason. I love mine. And yes, it’s manual
Problem is finding one at that price. Under 10k is either a YJ, a 4cyl TJ, or one that’s completely worn out. Even at 15k he’s looking at a decent (not great) TJ or an early JK which....no thanks. Back in 2014 I bought an ‘05 Rubicon for just under 13k but prices have only gone up on them since. If I still had it…
I’m 6'3, also long torso. Even so my biggest issues with the Miata and S2000 are leg room. I’m not a small framed person in any way. I can technically drive small cars but they are not something I can live with
I really like these trucks and would use it as a truck when I needed to and it should be reasonably more fun to drive than most other trucks.
I love these trucks. Lowered hot pickups are cool (to me) and this came out when I was in high school driving a ZQ8 sonoma (garbage vehicle) so it was in my wheelhouse. I still like them a lot even knowing the seating position in a Taco is awful for me, but no way would I pay 26k for this.
I bought my Gladiator off the lot because it was the exact spec I wanted except the color (which was never offered on Gladiators anyway). I want a Mojito green but in a pinch Punk’n would do nicely. I ended up with Granite Crystal Metallic which is a good gray even if it’s still another gray.
Cheap and easy to reapair*

Have been to Asheville. And Brevard. And Boone. Many times. There will only be these and old ass trucks.
