Oh, this is a mistake.
Well, I mean, I talk the talk. And I have 3 manual transmission cars, including my pickup truck. Another car has a DCT. My daily is an automatic because, well let’s face it, in stop and go rush hour traffic, manuals suck. My car ratio is clearly weighted toward manual shifting. But I can’t buy them all, just like I…
Is it harder to drive a stick? My 74 year old Dad still drives his miata and with a replacement knee at that.
This is truth. That breed is me, but you can’t really make an argument based on reliability, efficiency or speed any more. Personally, aside from the engagement point, I like being able to bump-start a car, and it’s a great anti-theft device for a big fraction of potential car thieves.
You just said it. It fills the needs of most people, but they’re not buying it.
I actually tried to buy a new Accord with a manual and the sales people were so clueless I gave up after visiting 5(!) dealerships.
I bought mine in Huntington Beach so that doesn’t surprise me at all. I was actually trying to get a manual FRS and they didn’t even have one of those.
Part of the problem for me was the Accord manual was limited to one configuration, ie smallest engine, no options, etc. If they offered it in more trim levels then maybe. That is like posting a car worth 5k for 15k and then saying “Sorry honey, I did list it but no one wanted it. Guess I will keep it around.”
As a Fit owner, I would like to second the “get bent, Honda”.
I married into what is a dying breed of car purchasers - people who are not necessarily car enthusiasts (compared to me at least) but prefer to drive manuals.
This one baffles me. I hate the look of the 4 door, but have considered a coupe for my next toy around town, especially if driving levels stay as low as they have recently.
I buy manuals, but I’m not buying mid-sized family sedans. :( That’s the problem - things that people WANT with a stick (see: Civic SI, WRX, GTI, etc) sell with sticks. Things that people don’t generally buy for fun (See: Camry, Accord, Malibu, etc) don’t sell with them. :(
THE HONDA CIVIC COUPE IS DEAD?!
Sorry for running this over to death, but: stick axle, stick axle, stick axle.
No, BMW front seats are now only available through a subscription model. If you stop paying, they become ejector seats.
Worse in every way? It’s honestly better in almost everyway. You really don’t lose out on much, if anything, going to a Crosstrek over an Impreza. The Crosstrek has a smoother ride for our crumbling infrastructure, better climbs over the snow bank into your driveway, gives off an even more outdoorsy vibe, and is…
Not every car is targeted to driving enthusiasts and has to have 500+ hp. The Crosstrek is one of them. Most buyers are happy with a car that is reliable, serviceable, and meets their transportation needs without asking too much in return.
That’s likely a Toyota relationship issue.
They wont even give the world a proper STI BRZ. Its like they do not want to dominate the sub $40k sports car.
