It’s sad politicians on both sides are trying to outdo each other ‘talking tough’ on China. The only guaranteed losers are American consumers.
This is what happens when a country and culture worship money above all else. We value money more than our health, safety, and lives.
This approach has been tried before, with dismal results. In the 1960's the Soviet Union built their N-1 moon rocket as their version of the U.S.’s Saturn V Apollo. It too had multiple small engines in a cluster, a total of 30 in the first stage, with 10 million pounds of thrust.
If anything goes wrong with the flight, Musk will probably blame it on Jewish Space Lasers.
So I guess his next move is to change the shape of the X logo to a swastika?
I’m a left-wing scientist and believe global warming is caused by human actions, and that we must stop burning things for power if we want to save the planet.
An important but often overlooked fact is the difference between advertised and real-world range. Some tests have been done and showed real-world range, especially in straight highway driving, is usually substantially less than touted in promotion.
Of course it’s a fabulous car. If you have $100,000 to spend on one. For Silicon Valley tech bros that might be just credit card money. But for normal people of more modest means, a Subaru BRZ offers a similar driving experience and 90% of the fun for 1/3 the cost. It’s a steep price to pay for the brag value and snob…
It’s a shame to see the Stinger go. In the future it will be more appreciated than it was when it was in production. One of the basic rules of life is, people don’t appreciate what they have until it’s gone.
I’m right there with you. 64, bought a new 2022 GT1 AWD last year. This car is one of the great unknown sleepers. Most people don’t even know what it is. I get questions almost every time I drive it. It’s a wonderful balance of performance, comfort (“near luxury”), and practicality at a much more reasonable price (to…
Total Nice Price on this one. We’re living in the new batshit crazy pricing world of pandemic supply-chain disruptions. The prices of all cars have skyrocketed past the stratosphere. People are getting $16k for shaky 20 year old VW Beetles with 150k miles. What other car can you get in nice shape with 71k miles for…
This is not an instrument panel for a pony car. Or any car for that matter (IMHO). No matter what else the S650 had, this is an absolute deal-breaker for me. I’d feel like a sucker every time I got into the car. Shame on Ford for taking the cheap way out and hot-gluing a couple of iPads to the dash and calling it…
... and the listing is already gone. Despite some softening of the economy in recent months, the used car market is still batshit crazy white-hot. If this car was as clean as it looked, with no accident history, $21k was a bargain. Not surprising it’s already gone.
Start a thread on dealer mark-ups on this car. Take a look at the batshit crazy markups Nissan dealers are already tacking on to the first Z’s ($79k the highest I’ve seen so far) for a preview of what’s likely in store for the Supra MT.
AWD would push the price far above what it is now.
Asteroid impact craters on front ends have been a design thing for a while now. Could be much worse. Take a look at the Civic R.
With a reasonably light foot, I routinely see 23-24 mpg in 65 mph highway driving with a 6-speed manual.
The ‘virtually silent’ exhaust problem can be easily and very inexpensively fixed by removing the resonator and replacing it with a H-pipe. That simple change makes it sound much more like a traditional 1960's small-block V8.
+1 on all the comments about the goodness of the Mustang just as it is. I have a 2015 GT and can vouch for it being a great mid-life crisis car. It’s not perfect, but then no car is. Choose your options carefully and you can drive away in a 450 hp RWD manual transmission fun car for not insane money, $40k-something…
