imo the letter was fine; the issue was his return to the spotlight and material about the situation didn’t really match that sense of contrite self-reflection.

“But as in the essay he published when his misconduct was brought to light back in 2017, C.K. doesn’t seem interested in atoning for his actions.”

Thank you for the very thoughtful response. I should state that I have no qualms with people getting more out of The Last of Us 2 than I did (as a Sony fanboy, all playstation “wins” are a net positive in my eyes). From a pure gameplay standpoint, I think TLOU 2 is impeccable, and I’d even argue Abby’s sections are

I actually totally whiffed on that, and stand corrected. Embarrassing considering Ellie’s birthday is actually my favorite chapter in the game!

When Abby delivers the line “you’re my people” to Lev, that hit me as hard in the feels as “baby girl”.

I genuinely thought the museum scene was even more touching. I loved it.

I found part 2 a remarkable game - harder and more uncomfortable than the first, but in a lot of ways better, and a much deeper and more complex reflection on humanity than the first.

I really have no idea what The Maxx movie would even look like much less the plot. The cartoon was so weird that it’s going to be a challenge to adapt it.

It is most definitely NOT “one of the best sci-fi movies of 2022.” It is the single best movie of 2022 regardless of genre and nothing else comes close.

Literally anywhere you buy digital movies.  Problem solved.

…there’s one cameo in one movie holding you back from enjoying any of the others he’s made?

Ghost Rider didn’t sell enough tickets? Fuck.

Now playing

For those wondering why these are being made, it’s because Jason DeMarco, Toonami co-creator and current head of Cartoon Network/Adult Swim’s action/adventure cartoon department, wanted to make them. Same with Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Shenmue: The Animation, and Uzumaki.

With the exchange rate, they only have 26-43 feral hogs to worry about

At least give William H. Macy kudos for delivering this line absolutely deadpan serious:

Agreed. He’s a huge part of the reason why IM3 is my favorite of that series. The comics Mandarin is a garbage character and always was. The IM3 fakeout is brilliant, and the way Shang-Chi creates a new character (instead of reverting to the old, terrible one from the comics) is good too. They can both be good!

I love how Iron Man 3 handled Mandarin. Both the initial presentation of the character and the undercutting reveal were one of the most clever ways by which they could update and play around with Marvel’s history of racism by ignorance. I certainly enjoyed Shang Chi’s more straight-forward presentation of the 10 Rings

+1. this article’s besmirching of Iron Man 3 is bad and the author should feel bad

This sucks. And hurts. My father loved Clapton. Worshiped at his alter of guitar playing to the point of handcrafting his own amp to duplicate the amp Clapton used on the legendary John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers album. Owned multiple Strats, of course. Could play pretty much any Clapton solo note for note.
