I think a lot of them were the same role players. What's crazy is that the majority of the members of our form weren't "teeny boppers." Many were grown-ass adults with families! Several of them had advanced degrees, and most were currently in college or had a college degree.

There used to be a Live Journal, but it got closed by the LJ mods because someone was making threats IRL. There are a few screen grabs on Wayback Machine, but nothing that would give you any kind of idea as to what the forum was actually like or what was said there.

Well, the moderators did a really good job explaining this away - "Lestat" always said it was his way of meeting and interacting with mortals without being in close proximity to harm them. He played the fun, gregarious, engaging Lestat, letting people get away with all kinds of crap because he thought it was funny.

There is definitely a dark undercurrent of sleaze running through internet fandom. I remember this, and it was around the same time the forum was really on fire. I also remember thinking that the Msscribe drama was nothing compared to what was going on at the VC forum.

You know... I get where you are coming from and it's understandable, but most of these people were not idiots. In fact, some of them were quite intelligent. It was, after all, a form based on books. Even smart people can be searching for something to feel important, or to justify their existence, or just to make them…

I think they are kind of hilarious, and I would love to wear one around my fat-shaming relatives and in-laws. Unfortunately, without knowing how these are cut, I'm afraid the largest size would be a little too snug. Stopping at size 18 is BULLSHIT for something that calls itself "plus size."
