I don't want to presume about you and your family life, but in the case of the article, I fully believe we have an unreliable narrator.

Literally my whole life was feeling responsible for my parent's feelings. It's horrible and it's only in the past year that I've been able to actually disengage from it, but it's guilt like no other.

I think sometimes abusive parents have a tendency to believe the lies they've told themselves about how wonderful their children's childhoods were. Particularly if their children turned out to be decent adults.

I will scream this from the mountain tops for all my days. Comprehensive sex ed is as necessary as a math class. We should be talking about consent and bodily autonomy with kids from day one.

Disclaimer: Maybe the kid isn't a rapist, I haven't been following the case and I don't have all the information and false rape accusations aren't nearly as common as justified rape accusations but they do happen and we should learn all the facts and gather all the evidence before condemning anyone.
