The cars can be fixed, and the drivers are uninjured. The nostalgia you can taste was worth it. Nice to see them running and not gathering dust.
The idea of making it spec was to entice competition since it would be a relatively low-cost racing series compared to F1. As more competitors have come in, they have loosened the spec rules somewhat, but they’re all still using the same batteries.
If the concept is 1KWH reduction per 1 minute, then a safety car would take away 45KWHs in 45 minutes, and the packs have 54KWHs, but they also still need to add one lap, and they still use energy just driving around even at slow speeds. So they are left with 9KWHs to do 45 minutes of driving slowly and a lap which is…
So like, everyone’s writing this like the crash was Bottas’s fault, but I know what I’m seeing, Russell lost control, he broadsided Bottas, he made the move to the wet side of the track. What gives?
Nothing says “fan friendly” like some Byzantine regulation that affects the result everyone saw with their own eyes. That’s the way of the FIA.
It’s not a net negative carbon impact. As soon as you burn the fuel it turns straight back into CO2+H20 again, so it’s zero-sum at best (notwithstanding local particulate and NOX emissions).
I refuse to contribute to this slideshow for fear that my wife would find out that I post in the comments and then see what number I give. Then she would ask if I am lying to you all, or if I was lying to her those other seven times.
4 reasonable recommendations? What has happened to Jalopnik? All of these are great options. Rav4 Prime is what I had in mind before seeing the recommendations. If that doesn’t have the desired space, the Sienna could replace the Highlander as the family travelling vehicle and the Highlander could replace the Civic.
Wait, what is this blasphemy?!? Four reasonable choices? Have the writers gone mad? /s
My only issue with that approach is the possibility that the police then chase down and assault — excuse me, sorry, interact with — the truck driver... same concerns apply to any other vehicle you could attach it to, be it a grandma-mobile or a church van. Dropping that sucker down a storm drain along your regular…
That and it’s not like you can ship them out of Japan by truck or rail, once you get them on a ship it’s not much different if 300km or 5000km - I know a lot of them used to go to New Zealand as a cousin was importing them and exporting logs in exchange
Panel gaps are down to from 15mm to 10mm.
Imagine someone works at Jalopnik, they get mad at you for taking the last breakfast bagel in the break room. They then proceed to grab the toaster, take it to your desk and throw it directly at your head.
Would you say firing that person would be a little “harsh?”
He’s 23. And assaulted a 13-year old. And his father joined in. They expected to walk scot-free because Daddy Dearest owns the track and pays for Dipshit Junior.
He threw a bumper into full speed traffic. Throwing a helmet at a full sized, enclosed stock car while under caution is a lot different than throwing a bumper at open cockpit go karts running at full speed.
Good. Fuck people that can’t control their tempers.
NASCAR literally encourages shit like this.
