“It’s clear that Mercedes and Wolff have pulled some strings here that neutered this young man’s conviction. It’s not hard to see that Wolff was clearly on Russell’s mind when this mealy mouthed apology was posted.”
That is a fantastic color.
I disagree, Russell clearly made the mistake here, in those conditions he was the passing car, he needed to get it done without causing an accident.
The M3 and M4 didn’t need those ugly-ass pig snout grilles too, but AWD as a option probably makes more sense than that.
Russell needs to apologize for nothing except maybe the accusation that Bottas wouldn’t have thrown the jink at any other driver. But suggesting that he shouldn’t have even tried the pass on a straightaway is ridiculously absurd.
I enjoyed this thoroughly as well. Though it was interesting to see Russell go full Aston Martin “It’s because I’m me!” when there was only one car that lost control and slammed into the car in front of it, and it sure wasn’t the #77. The race was sure better for it but perhaps if you’re Russell it was a poor decision…
In the word of Continuous Improvement (Cause Maps, 8D, 5Why,etc) the trainers of such systems and principles tell you never to blame the person for committing the action, because the only solution you will have are administrative ones. The blame should always go back to the system that allowed the poor action,…
I work on regulatory/policy issues for a self-driving company (not Tesla). From my vantage point, the rest of the industry is sick of the misrepresentation and wink-wink-nudge-nudge about the capabilities of Tesla’s “FSD” or “Autopilot” tech, which very well may deliver on what’s been promised. Look at how many other…
What pisses me off about Tesla is about the same thing as GM.
Looking forward to all the fanboys pointing to Jalopnik’s coverage of this crash as evidence the site is hopelessly biased against Grumman.
I love the styling, but that 124 mile range on the WLTP test will probably translate to a sub-100 mile EPA range. Unless this comes in at a shockingly low price, I think it’ll be a tough sell in the US.
Underrated sidebar to this conversation; how utterly absurd it is that the new Silverado is so big and tall that being broadsided by something with a nose as high, flat, and square as a Challenger is enough to roll it over. Absolute lunacy.
“ It also lacks Autopilot.”
I work in the Nuclear world. Details down to the exactly which scoop of dirt the ore came down to can be made available. For a price.
“you know how much cheaper it was to replace a busted headlight back in the good old sealed beam days?
The biggest news with the EV part of Biden’s infrastructure plans is that they are talking about a rebate instead of the current tax credit. A rebate would give every buyer the same amount of money to buy an EV.
What Tesla didn’t say is that they modified or replaced their plans over the course of the 16 months, so the 16 months are more like 6, with officials having to check both the plans and the actual buildings for legality and conformity with each other before the factory is allowed to open.
1st: Words from a corporate spokesman mean nothing and they never have. “We deliberately engineered this product to allow us to spy on you, but we promise we won’t use it that way!” Sure bud.
I mean, the flag-livery itself is very telling..
If they were watching, this would be the MAGAs dream team (“I’d rather be Russian than a Democrat”).
