A good summary there, even coming from a 2020 Model Y owner

Popup headlights are a scourge. They make cars look like shit, they lead to bad intermediate/transient lighting functionality, they needlessly and pointlessly cost efficiency, they add mechanical complexity to a part that has no need for it.

Love the full bodied whining so present everywhere in motorsport lol

If that were true, there wouldn’t have been uniform oxidation along the entire crack thickness. It surely opened more during the final failure (duh), but the failure in the HAZ is both at a shallow angle and oxidized along that full depth so it had to have been at least significantly separated even before the final

Idk there, a solid 1cm? (Dimensions hard to judge) crack in a welded part that is on visible non-redundant drivetrain parts doesn’t seem like “invisible and unpredictable” until it breaks. It seems more like the kind of thing that bridge inspectors note growing fatigue cracks on for 20 years before anyone actually

I’m not going to sit here and pretend you should have done better... but this is why places like Germany have real safety inspections, not the bad jokes that count for most areas here stateside.

I think the basic problem all these seem to fail to grasp is that a loan at 3% is a money making machine in a world where inflation is 7%. The correct fiscal advice would be to pay it off as slow as possible without getting fees, and take the saved money and invest it in higher return options.

This is an odd situation. Airbus doesn’t make the paint, just as Boeing doesn’t. For Boeing, iirc PPG makes the paint and there is a lot of complex chemistry that goes into the system, because air temps at cruising altitude is as low as -75C and on the ground, it’s possible to see as high as 50C. This is a huge range

I think this instance was the least offensive of at least 5 directly illegal and blatantly penalty worthy actions by Max that any other driver would have been penalized for. So I’m really of mixed thoughts today, though clearly Lewis would have run away with this at the end if there wasn’t any contact based on the

Don’t worry this has been consistently the situation this year. Max is allowed to, by the intent and letter of the rules, break the rules race and race again with no consequences, and only because he has 0 chill and is consistently forcing the most aggressive position possible when someone else doesn’t yield to him

As sarcastic as it may be... UK has the top two teams in F1 located there, and 4? Overall?. They are among the highest per capita watchers of the series and 3 of the best drivers on the grid today are British. I think trying to add another race in the country makes 100% sense for the area/country, even if I have my

1/4th of his teammate who Redbull claims isn’t good enough to race for them. There is no excuse for his truly abysmal performance this year in clearly the 4th or 5th best car. Not to mention costing his team many millions in car damage.

I’m not sure I understand this take honestly. It isn’t like he’s going into the grandstands and forcing them to talk with him. These are highly privileged access people almost always intended for some other purpose besides just ‘enjoying the race’. Almost always a PR piece or whatnot. That should work both ways IMO.

I’ve tried to use exactly two EA chargers with my MY in a year (and 20k miles). Regret both attempts. Honestly still, if you are trying to roadtrip with any regularity, it just isn’t reasonable to do on a non-Tesla EV. Unfortunate, but real. Plus EA cost is flipping insane.

I don’t think this is as big of a deal as people think. Normal digital photography and even video feeds are already being heavily used by everyone of the teams. Knowing what is there is not the same thing as knowing how it all works and such. As Aston Martin have quite blatantly shown this year.

Glass fiber reinforced plastic and carbon fiber reinforced plastic are extremely different things. And graphitized/pyrolyzed carbon fiber reinforced carbon is a whole other thing all together, regardless of the original resin composition (often phenolic).

You can have 15 drivers qualify within a second of each other. That is competition. That is spectacle.”

For me personally, volume needs physical dials, climate does not. As long as a climate has good temp setpoint controls, there shouldn't be that many times one needs to adjust it, and that it is a current issue is more indicative of bad HVAC sensing than anything else. (Volume on a knob on a steering wheel is good

Knobs are honestly the best possible shifter design for 99% of vehicles. They take up less space than levers buttons or anything else, are easiest to see, easiest to use and reflex (same as a column shifter it is just all one way or all the other 99% of the time), etc etc etc.

So I know aerodynamics have come a long way since then... but ground effect cars iirc tend to be extremely dangeorus when they get lifted off the ground. Say over a curb, crest, or tussle with another vehicle. I’m rather worried about limiting the suspension and adding worse tires while also shifting more of that
