Those are aweful. You can’t crane your head around to change the angle and field of view

I don’t need it to make sense I already want one

It’s like these engineers and marketers have never worn gloves in cold weather.

Chevrolet Astro/GMC Safari rear dutch doors

It’s strange that Murray acted like he had never seen dihedral doors before seeing the Sera. Since they debuted on one of the most beautiful cars of all time 22 years before the Toyota.

Does the 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale not count as “series production”? I think the term usually refers to any car made for customer purchase that isn’t a concept car or prototype, but I could be wrong. To differentiate the Sera, it probably should have been referred to as “mass-production” which would have ruled out

I sort of assumed the Peugeot 1007 would’ve been obligatory for this list, but I’m glad to see the Kaiser Darrin was included.

Real ones remember the SC had the 3rd door before the Ion

The infotainment still has haptic buttons. Why are so many people overlooking that?

We’re looking to replace my wife’s ‘15 Golf TDI with a GTI, and was hoping this mid cycle refresh would go back to a volume knob and physical HVAC controls.

So the climate control is still capacitive AND they’re adding AI. This is such bullshit.

The manual in these cars kind of sucks anyway.  Long gearing, doesn’t feel great and just not as good a performer as the DSG.

The dash still has no buttons. Still a fail. Gimme knobs for climate and give me a proper volume knob please.

I agree with the preference to have HVAC be physical buttons, but I love the steering wheel button standard to all cars. Volume, track/station skip, cruise control, and voice/phone activation are all perfect things for the steering wheel. Once I get used to where everything is, I vastly prefer it over the old stalk

VeeDub, the worst diesel cheaters of all, does the right thing putting buttons back for the controls but as mentioned, goes off on a silly tangent by incorporating ChatGPT into their vehicles.

So they took away the stick and added a bigger screen?? I guess at least when you’re broken down on the side of the road you can watch TV? And then add in these idiotic touch buttons and sliders-which might be even more irritating than everything being touch based.

I’d prefer no steering wheel buttons at all. A separate stalk is better for cruise control, and simple buttons and knobs to control the stereo and HVAC. Along with no-nonsense flat black trim and no screens. Put the rearview camera display in the mirror if needs be.

Yes, it’s complicated, not intuitive, and requires taking your eyes off the road to find the little slider.

“...I hope they’ve got a manual one around and I’ll gladly sell / trade my Golf R for one.”

Unfortunately the teaser photos show that the refreshed GTI still seems to rely on those touch-sensitive temperature and fan speed adjustments
