Fair, it’s just harder to identify that as an ‘era’ persay because Volvo was a much smaller marque back then and only had a few mainline models. Still a gorgeous lineup, though.

I might agree were it not for the hideous brightwork that looks like it’s attempting to trace the DLO and failing miserably

Interesting you feel that way; that’s how I’d describe the current model with its overuse of creases and fake vents:

Why’s it always a Taurus?

Considering how much of a budget brand MG is in the markets where it’s sold, this could easily be a $50-60k offering depending on how much SAIC is willing to let it be a loss leader.

Well yeah, but that’s like pulling out the Mona Lisa at a kids art convention. Sacco era Benz was untouchable in its elegance and restraint. A shame that Mercedes threw it all out the window and never looked back.

Pre-beak Acura was actually one of the greats. I can’t believe they ruined their entire range in one fell swoop.

The F10 of that era is actually one of the prettiest 5ers of all time. Criminally underrated:

Needs more:

Easy. Early 2000s Volvos, as overseen by Horbury.

The cars might have been mediocre, but there’s no denying their excellent design provenance. This might have been the last real shout of the carrozzeria doing regular cars.

some sort of a vision outside of “must make truck look big angry for make man drive truck feel powerful”.

Meh, the Ssangyong Rodius beat them to it a decade prior:

Harsh, but fair.

Meh, since the recession GM has not been shy about culling brands. Daewoo, dead, Holden, dead, Opel/Vauxhall, no longer their problem. By 2050 they will sell one model and it will be an EV Silverado (and a Sierra, because GMC will never die).

I mean, I’ve seen memes about Europe and North America being ok with turning the ‘Global South’ into a ravaged hellscape if it means they can drive around in their heavy EV SUVs ‘guilt free’. It’s just sad that it’s not a meme.

Well said. It’s not a simple matter of what powers our cars, it’s a matter of why and how we drive.

Yes, we would also bear some cost,

zero-emissions synthetic gasoline

I dunno if I’d say greatest since most were transverse FWD cars (nothing against the format, but it is a bit limiting), but Aussies got fun and faintly ridiculous ones, too.
