As I posted to another person:

Well, I'm a guy too. "My issues", as you call them, are what I hear from female friends constantly or see them have to deal with, and are reinforced as being not just "my friends' issues" by the fact that there are also constant articles and stories I see that are the exact same, at all levels of media.

Sexism is more like "we couldn't have a female lead for our franchise, it wouldn't seem right to have a woman acting like this, it's a man's role".

I got no problem with yours. There are useful straw man arguments, and useless ones. Extrapolating a 'let your freak flag fly' argument into its conclusions is useful. Trying to shut down an argument by being all 'PC POLICE' is not, especially since the people that argue that inevitably don't actually understand that

HAHAHAHA! I AM SELF-HATING WHITE KNIGHT MAN! I will protect all the fragile ladies from your piercing, burning gaze!

I'm not blaming video games. I'm saying that specific ones reinforce the culture of sexism, and that culture is a problem irrespective of whether it's reinforced or not.

Yes, it does matter. It's not that these games 'teach' people that women are sexual objects; it's that they reinforce a portion of the culture that is already abundant and problematic.

I cannot stop laughing at this.

Eddard + Ashara is my preferred version as well, and the thing there is that, despite Ashara's lineage not being specified beyond being a Dayne, she had violet eyes, which is a Targaryen trait and thus still lends credence to the "Jon is one of the heads of the dragon" theory. R+L just feels too obvious, though

Eh, like I said: awkwardness was the intended tone.

I don't hate being this person, but you're wrong. Grammar is not a hard-and-fast set of rules that apply unilaterally; it is a set of tools for creating meaning, and not always in the same fashion. Kirk obviously used his Morrowind repetition to emphasise the redundancy of his statement, to effectively say, "This is

By that logic, why put anything into the game? You spend time and money on it because it's a feature. You advertise "addicting gameplay", and you say "It's so addicting we stuck an alarm in there to tell you to stop." It's not a matter of whether there are mods that do it or not; it was there in the previous, and they

When I installed Civ5, back when it came out, I had one major disappointment, one feature of Civ4 that I shook my head at them removing: the clock (with optional alarm). It befuddles me that they still haven't stuck that back in via one of the patches or expansions since.

For what it's worth, when we talk about teams led by an adult, we tend to say that the team leader was the creator, i.e., John Carmack made Doom, Peter Molyneux made Fable, Will Wright made the Sims, Miyamoto made 90% of Nintendo, etc. If the kid laid out the mechanics and design of the game, i.e., led the project, he

Irony is an incongruity between expectations and reality, not merely its opposite. Something terribly apropos can be ironic because it fits expectations too well.

Ah, Sisters of Mercy. I liked them when I was a teenager, then I starting thinking that Andrew Eldritch took himself too seriously, then ten years later I got over that and just enjoyed the music, which is always excellent in a club.

Y'know, I can actually see where Dostoevsky is coming from, based on previous games. I can get a Brothers Karamazov feel from the relationship between Solid, Ocelot and Big Boss.

While I haven't tried the M01D (in my admittedly limited experience with it, the M1 is not to my taste), I love that Korg is continuing to bring virtual synths to the 3DS. I'm more fond of analog-style synths than sample-based (like the M1), though, so this looks particularly badass.

Ha, I figured it was just a fan service background thing; you see her a few times before she actually talks, so it seemed plausible! I watched the Japanese with subs, so I don't know the English animation VA, but the game VA was fine.

I watched P4: the Animation before playing P4, but after P3, and the first time Naoto is shown I was totally excited by what I thought was a P3MC cameo.
