Oppo Is Dead/Long Live Oppo

When I started here, I was under the mistaken impression that Oppo had been killed a while back. I was relieved to

I have said it before and I will say it again:

You’re a fool. If that’s the mindset you go to a dealer or general service shop with. Then there is a likelihood that it will turn out to be true...

I couldn’t agree more. I’m a Diesel Mechanic and have been for over a decade. The one thing I’ve seen over and over is that there is, IN FACT, a reason dealer parts cost more. They’re just plain better. Now that statement excludes high end aftermarket parts from SOME performance companies. But by enlarge...Just pay

Owner did work themselves not factoring in their own labor costs, overhead, equipment costs, tools, and also did not sell parts to himself for a profit. Oh yeah, and no worker’s comp, insurance, or other things required to run a business does job for far less.

So, basically, non-Tesla carmakers have standards?

You haven’t see modern cops recently, have you?  In some areas they are better equipped than soldiers, but less well trained in the using the weapons.

It’s still going to sound like a 4-banger. Not necessarily bad, but not exciting the way an I-6 or V8 (or V12) sounds.

Repairs require test drives. It’s not like he dropped a thousand lbs of stone in the bed and scratched it up, nor was he abusing the vehicle, just operating it normally (tailgating aside, that’s certainly not ideal).

This write up gives me mixed emotions. On one hand, I’m thrilled someone learned to drive stick, on the other hand, I can’t believe Jalopnik has (or had) writers who can’t drive stick.

Never a Dodge.

New oil (that’s actually been run through) in a diesel isn’t “tinted” — it’s as black as the ace of spades on a new moon night. Anybody that thinks they can tell (by sight alone) the difference between 10-mile oil vs. 10,000-mile oil out of a diesel (other than one fresh off the factory floor) is mistaken. You can do

Now playing

Drain plug doesn’t necessarily get it all either. Sometimes the extractor can get more. Here’s a good video on youtube showing some examples of oil pans that don’t drain completely.

To be fair though, the Land Rover Experience is like the the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland - The illusion of peril only.

Does this thing actually have any off-road chops? 20" wheels and FWD in lower trim spec say no, but what’s under the skin?

There is nothing irrational about your anger.

I always wondered what happens to shitty SEMA build cars....they go on craigslist for hilarious amounts of money.

The ripped leather is the deal breaker. If the leather was in better condition and the wheels were the stock wheels, I’d 100% buy that for $3,500.
