‘Often compared to a “phone book,”’
‘Often compared to a “phone book,”’
Imagine if it had played “SOS” instead.
I was alerted to the problem early this morning when - and I’m making no part of this up - Alexa refused to play ABBA’s “Take a Chance On Me.” Truly I knew that something major was afoot.
I thought something was funky with the Microsoft Store, cause it was working this morning.
Grayson Elliot is an 18 year-old college student...
Can we buy this man a beer? The world needs more people like him.
Yes, yes, yes and yes. This seems more like a bullshit Twitter rabbit hole. The Root is better than this.
It’s also not a new story. I read an article on this (I want to say last year?) and she talked about how she came from a super privileged, wealthy background and her embarrassment over her participation in this ball. I’m trying to find it now but every page of google is dominated by this latest news.
+1 for “dry snitching”.
It’s not *quite* accusing someone of Nazi sympathies because they once owned a VW Beetle made in the ‘70s, but it’s only a step or two removed from it.
I don’t know much about her, and the whole “ball” thing is ick but if I were outed and lambasted for every stupid thing I did as a 19yr old... well.... Also as a 19yr old student still very much under the parentals thumb, I pretty much did what I was told to do, so...
We really doing this? Really? I mean we have Texas trying to take away the right to vote for anyone that isn’t white, actually seasons their food and can clap on the 2 & 4 and this is what you’re concerned with? I am all for multi-tasking but I am also for priorities and this ain’t it. Unless you have footage of her…
It also says that this was a racist thing until the early 90’s (and then wasn’t?). So given that she’s 41 now, unless she was tuned into kkk goings on in her pre-teen years and was crowned kkk princess of St Louis while a freshman at Princeton at the age of 13 (possible) it doesn’t seem like there’s much here to link…
There’s really not much of anything here. The headline and the beginning of the story made it sound like Erin from The Office was burning crosses and shit. Nope, she attended some corny debutante ball thing that has a racist past. Most of the US has a racist past.
Agreed, this Murica nothing to see here
Look, if we start doing “Famous person took part in institution that turned out to be hella racist” takes we’re going to be here forever because, spoiler alert, most white institutions in America are hella racist.
Am I missing something? I see no connection other than the origins of the festival or party or whatever that would tie her to KKK leanings. If dumbass Black people wanted to join that bullshit, that’s of course their choice but I don’t see where she was personally connected to the KKK or even racism. I also think it’s…
Mm, nope, as highlighted in the article, there’s plenty of useful features that exist in the new chromium-based Edge that aren’t available in Google Chrome. As far as the engine to display web content goes, yeah they’re the same now, but Microsoft is really trying to distinguish themselves from a front-end user point…
That was more of an IE problem, Internet Explorer used a software package called ActiveX which gave websites very deep access to the guts of your OS. It’s never been a part of Edge, and is a big reason why IE was a dangerous way to browse the web.
Here’s an article which does a better job explaining it than I can:
That’s working fine for me, I use it all the time on both Windows and Mac versions of Edge
