Absolutely sickening.

I think Bennett is a fundamentally unsympathetic character. His whole arc is goes from superficially honorable/loving to reveal his fundamentally selfish nature.

The comparison is obviously too simplistic, but I'm surprised by how similar Cecily's letter is to the the arc of the first season of OITNB. Obviously, the latter does not portray prison in all its horror, but there's a shared emphasis on how prison life is unintelligible to people on the outside. Hopefully some

Berlatsky is absolutely right that all young Black men on the show are portrayed as sexually violent, while the women are portrayed sympathetically.

Except, you know, for that whole arc about Vee and RJ—where the former is a sociopathic sexual predator and the latter is basically an innocent victim of police corruption.

Also a young journalist in New York. I agree that Google is unreliable, though I use it daily to find links to background information about people I write about. Of course, I should also contact the story subjects to verify that information.

Basically, Scocca feels that it's absurd for people to say "that profile doesn't say any horrible things about Terry Richardson" and use as evidence the horrible things that it says about him. So he wrote a "more critical" profile—which was really just the horrible things that were buried in the original profile.

In reality, the suit just wraps around the leg and under the butt crack, reconnecting to the front part. So it's sort of like an angled garter.

Yeah. Was the experiment successful or not?

"Buzzfeed Yellow"?

"Setting aside academic dialogues about whether male-identified humans should identify as feminists or feminist allies (because I don't think that's what you were talking about)"

I could be wrong, but that's exactly how I read Pharrell's quote—he's not sure he can claim the identity of "feminist" since he identifies as

That is true if someone is genuinely interested in polyamory. But when it's just a guy who wants his girlfriend to be monogamous while also being allowed to fuck hotter women—that's not a real open relationship.

So was it his handwriting?

"if a shrill, throat-shouty singer sang it"

Yeah, I take a similar view. Of course, I'm a little biased, since a woman I went to college with now does fusion belly dance. She is White, but she also double-majored in Middle Eastern studies and Dance, so it always seemed difficult to treat her dancing as ignorant White "appropriation." It's obviously a super

I take it both you and shinobi42 are familiar with the Salon essays arguing that White women shouldn't do bellydance. Is it a common concern in the bellydance community?

"or the kind of white people who write for Jezebel and fall into a state of crisis as they consider their own basic-ness while drinking a smoothie on a gentrified New York street corner."

So then the survey isn't actually talking about "public schools" and "private schools" but instead "state schools" and "independent (including public) schools"?

Definitely agree. Not giving people the option of a +1 just leads to awkward situations. Obviously, if you can't afford to give everyone the option of a +1, then don't. But it's definitely the ideal thing to do.
