More from Pacific Island Countries and Maori (still NZ's biggest minority) than mostly being from East Asia surely... Agree that CHCH is still pretty Pakeha though! If not as residents I would have expected more Pasifika people in the staff, because I think most of the nursing home workforce is made up of immigrants

I reread all the Harry Potter's in a row at the end of last year and people at work probably thought I had a drinking problem or something because of tired zombie state I was in for weeks! That or secretly a vampire slayer. But sadly secret identity is just book worm!

I totally recommend the Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfluss - had a very shady week at work when I discovered it because of staying up all night reading then staggering in. It's being made into a tv show too, so you can like it before tv shapes how you see all the characters etc!

I'm a kiwi living in Europe so I hear ya. Someone told me a good way to try explain it (not 100% sure it's true) - the distance between NZ and Australia is like going from the UK to Greece - not UK - France like heaps of people seem to think! It's not a day trip! Planes are needed!

To be fair on stuff like that they tend to be similar. Though Aus fashion has a lot more short shorts in it because it's not constantly raining and freezing etc like in good old NZ

I had such a nerdfest pretending I was there in times of yore. But then everything seemed really small and kind of constricting and I was stoked to go to the pub unchaperoned and spend my work earned money like a harlot. Awesome weekend
