"All bushings have been replaced with either heim joints or 75d hard poly."

I bought my 2007 with the intent of keeping it stock until I paid it off, but in reality I had it for six weeks before installing a turboback and getting it tuned. The shop that did the work also brought me a laundry list of "symptoms" that indicated the car was previously modified and returned to stock, including

Yeah, I got lucky considering how bad the market is for used WRXs...I bought it from a dealer after it had been sitting on a lot for about four months, and I was a bit of a prick negotiating (walked out after the first test drive, then called the salesman back on the last day of the month...luckily no one else wanted

300whp is about 380 at the crank, and it's my daily, so...no. The fact that I stopped at the limits of the stock fuel system is what's going to keep the car together untill 200k. I bought the car for 14k, and have about 5k in mods in it...I don't think there's another way to get a car as fast as this for as little

Ten thousand? If I needed to sell the thing I could probably let it go for less, but I actually really like the car.

And if you honestly think spending 2 grand in repairs over 100k of life isn't reliable, stick with Camrys.

The turbo is a TD05H-16G, there so the car can make 300whp. In terms of things I fixed, I did have to put in a new clutch (thanks to the mods the old one slipped at full throttle, not the car's fault) and replace my oil cooler gasket. I suppose I did my alternator belt at some point. I've had the car for over three

No, the new turbo was 50k ago. All I've done since was brake pads and rotors. Well, and oil changes. It's actually surprisingly reliable. I also get 29mpg highway, so no one ever believes any of my WRX stories...

Can't argue with that, good sir.

Everything needs to be a piece of junk. That Miata will barely sell for more than the cost of the LS if you bought a crate engine. If you dragged a 5.3L Vortech home from the junkyard for 200 bucks...well that's a different story.

So are you pedantic, or just take yourself way too seriously?

This is why I'm not going to sell my WRX...at least not until 200,000 miles where the depreciated value hit pretty much wipes out the value hit from the modifications. Though if you know someone who wants a 2007 WRX wagon with a new turbo, full exhaust and 150,000 miles, let me know...

Not entirely true. Life insurance policies are bets the company makes that people don't die. The companies also sell annuities, which are bets that people will die before the value of the annuity is paid out.

Getting everyone else to asshole themselves out of the dating pool...it's just crazy enough to work!

Jesus. Well, your story beats mine, that's for certain. In my case, the other driver was insured by Travelers, and they actually had an adjuster call me and offer to take care of the work and payment on their end...in retrospect, I really should have done that. I almost switched to Travelers when I dumped GEICO, but

So much pain there...I was rear-ended in my WRX and GEICO ended up giving me the runaround because I dared to take the car to my local guy instead of their "certified collision center"...it took me a month to get my car back. And since I was rear-ended, they didn't even have to pay for it, the other car's insurance

Let's just say hypothetically that if you happen drive a grey WRX wagon with an upgraded turbo, and happen to pass a state trooper at a speed that happens to be roughly 25mph over the limit...you still won't get ticketed.

A horrifying custom car is always a horrifying custom car...a horrifying custom car made out of an 1800ES just makes me angry.

I had to merge onto the Merritt Parkway from a stop a few weeks ago. Let's just say that it stands as one of the few times I used all 375 horsepower.

And Pittsburgh even sooner than Chicago, with Carnegie Mellon for CS and engineering, UPitt for biomedical, and costs of living that, while not as low as Detroit, are significantly cheaper than Chicago. Google and Microsoft are already there.
