Frankly that quote on feminism out of context makes me think she simply doesn't know the textbook, dictionary definition of feminism, because she's actually advocating for it, by advocating for equality of the genders and not tearing anyone down, an equality that uses a 'fine balance', which seems a good way to put it

She has my birthday, Nov 15th. And she talks and acts a lot like me. I even wanted to be an actress at one point (to the tune of 4 years of drama class). >.>

While the methodology of the study is a bit flawed, 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 wouldn't seem unreasonable as an estimate, given the sheer number there would match up fairly well to the number of women who experience sexual assault in their lifetime.

Two of the three people who did that to me would easily be picked out as exactly that caliber and archetype of person.

Touche, though I'm wanting to give the benefit of the doubt because it's just a high school kid.

that's perfect.

my barbies were always hooking up with each other and I'd just give the ken doll to my sister, like 'nah, that dude's a fugly scrub with bad hair, pardon me, but my three barbies are about to do something x rated'

Wow, in 10 years, she's going to look back on that and want to weep for how embarassingly bad the taste level of that was. If she was older than a dumb ass high school kid, I'd be ripping into her hard.

I was asking you to put yourself in my shoes. Someone has held you down against your will, taken all of your fight and bodily autonomy and forcibly, LITERALLY inserted themselves into you. Not one person. Not two people. Three. And now someone else is saying that they intend to.

"I am going to rape you" is a threat to take an action which can literally kill you if the person has the right disease. It can give you PTSD. It can get you pregnant. The rapist can then sue for child support. In some states, you will have the possibility of going to jail for manslaughter if you have the misfortune

You know I've been sexually abused by my own cousin, a perfect stranger, and one of the guys who was one of my closest friends?

While I can agree that there is a lot to be said for fair and unbiased media coverage, to put it frankly, I've had 2 experiences (primarily) in the past year, as a woman in gaming. 1. Seeing people who use a public platform to speak to issues I think are important being bombarded with threats from all sides, and 2.

So as not to mix messages: I can't say I blame her for not pressing charges. If the guy was deported, that is plenty measure to keep her safe. That's probably the same reaction I'd have had, myself. "Oh, well this guy just lost his entire living situation and wound up booted back to a different country, I see no

All that I am saying, is that there is at LEAST one instance where this has escalated WAY above and beyond just namecalling someone. Random namecalling? It's stupid, and it's shitty, but that's the internet. To quote Oscar Wilde "Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell

"members of the university administration received an email warning that a shooting massacre would be carried out at the event. And under Utah law, she was told, the campus police could not prevent people with weapons from entering her talk." - Anita Sarkeesian had to cancel a public speaking engagement. These

And you just know when someone winds up dead, the assholes behind it are going to be high-fiving and backpatting about finally "showing them", despite having proved them right. >.>

Yeah... I do LOVE when free speech is used as an excuse to justify behavior that costs people their jobs, livelihood, and security, not to mention their assumed safety. But no, totally, it's just "feelings". God knows, women are nothing but walking ovaries, amirite.

Totally. You know I'm native american and have been ripped apart for being too pale in my picture to justify being able to speak as a person of color here?

What homophobes are you talking to? Because the ones I've spoken to, tend to throw around 'dyke' and 'fag' a lot, and not say shit about where their heart is. I think you're confusing someone who cares and isn't as versed as you are with someone who's outright prejudiced, without realizing that like almost all things,
