The crazy thing is she and Bernie are labelled as a radicals for proposing things that are universally implemented in every other first world country, and most other countries in the world. How is it an impossible dream if everybody else does it? ‘Murica, the alleged greatest nation in the world, doesn’t have the

I feel like ones that use magic would be really risky. One wrong move and your small intestine is coming out of your ear.

YES! Which makes me wonder if there are wizard-specific eating disorders as well.

For the record, I just ignore JK at this point - she’s gone so far off the rails on all these additions to canon (let alone written five goddamn movies about Newt fucking Scamander) that it’s easy enough to tell myself that none of it matters, and if it did matter, it would’ve been in the goddamn books.

B-b-b-b-but BOOTSTRAPS!”

If I can vanish my poop after it pops out, I can vanish my poop while it is still inside.

This is the greatest threat that makes AOC such a lightening rod for the rightists. Not just that shes’s advocating for “radical” policies. She’s advocating for a new outlook on how we want this society to function. That maaaaaybe dog-eat-dog capitalism shouldn’t be the ultimate goal of our species.

I think I’ve been in that club.

It took two years to get the exterior to match the interior.

The image of the White House framed by enormous piles of garbage is as apt a metaphor as any to explain the last three years or so.

It’s almost as if EVERYTHING president dumb ass says is complete and utter pig shit.

Doesn’t sound like “Tom.” On the contrary, CC sounded like someone familiar with Scientology’s practices, history of skirting the law and how they’ve managed to do so. There was nothing complementary in their description.

At no point did he condone what Scientology does. Also, he’s likely right from a legal perspective. The fact that Scientology has status as a religion makes a huge difference in how it’s treated in courts compared to something like NXIVM. Additionally, he’s absolutely right that Mack and Co. were straight up

I called at an evil cult.

Yeah, no way will this fly. Scientology wasn’t blackmailing people in that case. I don’t doubt Scientology does blackmail people with their audit material but they weren’t in that case. They were saying people would lose their families if they leave. That’s horrible but in theory Scientology doesn’t have the control

I really am trying my best to stay hopeful. But whoo boy, these last dozen years or so since the 2016 election have really worn on me.

If you can blackmail and harass the IRS into recognizing you as a legit religion, the sky’s the limit on what you can get away with.

I have absolutely no idea how Scientology isn’t illegal. Mind you, I have no idea how the Catholic Church gets away with covering up child sex abuse either, so there you go. Religion. Or at least, religion with a lot of rich white followers.
