Man, this series is absolutely killing it. I went in happy if I got some fun nostalgia, but this show is better than the original in almost every way (except the theme song, which is worse).

Is there any evidence that the world seen at the end of The Marvels is the same as the ‘core’ X-Men universe? There are never any mention of other superheroes in that world. Someone as powerful as a Captain Marvel running around would definitely have changed things up significantly. (Yes, I know the out-of-universe

I just want the overlords to know I was mildly interested in this article but refuse to click through a slide show. Please make them stop.

Sorry, not going to click through. I’m sure slideshows are at least theoretically more profitable, but the reader experience is awful. I am so tired of stuff that could just be, you know, a single article — maybe even not that long of one — turned into a long march through a blizzard of advertisements.

Every right-wing blowhard says some variation of ‘If someone can say they’re a gender, then I’m x’ and think it’s the most mind-blowing, Voltairian, definitive takedown of modern gender ideas and the greatest piece of satire that the world has ever seen, when instead it merely demonstrates why there aren’t more

Those responsible for canceling the cancellation special have been canceled.

TNG lets characters occasionally have an episode of development, but it never sticks to the next one. DS9 was so much better about giving character arcs and growth.

The Klingons in general are far better on DS9 than TNG, not to mention the Ferengi.

It’s all part of the package of humanity. He loves deeply, so he fiercely protects. I don’t think that casts him as a madman or a caricature of an angry Black man. It makes him human.

Nothing about this article (or episode) feeds into a characterization of Sisko as unhinged. Nor is that a common attitude among fans. Yes, he’s a man of action, more than Picard, though not dissimilar to Kirk.

You see Picard become unhinged in a whole movie.

Always preferred DS9 to STNG.

A good tailor knows how to measure twice and cut once.

It feeds into the idea that Sisko is this unhinged madman, who’s the antithesis of the refined officer that is Picard

>his character has always seemed to me to be race neutral, like make Sisko a bald white guy and what exactly about his character would have to change?

Sisko is absolutely a black man in all that means. Don’t take that away from Sisko or Brooks or Benny.

Hands down, my favorite episode of Star Trek ever. Hell, I like it more than the movies too.

I love Garak, and I love DS9 (best Trek series, IMO). Sisko and the Federation were by this point quite desperate, and when one is that desperate you go to plain, simple Garak for solutions

Great article. Thanks. I have always liked DS9 and the cast better than some of the other series because they weren’t the swaggering moralistic heroes you could watch over in ST: TNG.
