Eleanor is canonically bisexual, at the very least. I don’t remember if they ever used the term, but she expresses attraction to women numerous times throughout the show.

To that point, here’s a little advice from this writer: the “capitalism is awesome” movie was old and tired the minute it was invented.”

April/ Andy impresses me because it was not intended originally. Aubrey Plaza decided in s1, when those characters were often in scenes without anything clear to do, that April would have a crush on Andy because he was in a band, so she started flirting with him. The writers liked it & started working it into the

“Side note, I might legit be into Tahani!”

It’s pitch-perfect. Motherfucker has the BEST reactions.

She switches to being hyper-competent, if absurdly well-meaning. She can be overwhelming but it’s with love, not selfishness and cringe. It’s a complete shift.

They all had great arcs

It’s interesting comparing Ben to Mark, who was intended as the romantic lead originally. Mark was intended to be the straight man, but they overdid it and made him boring.

What makes Ben an improvement is that he has his own quirks, even if he’s not as obvious about them as Leslie is. Fans can even name them without

I though Eleanor & Chidi were fine but I preferred Chidi with Simone and Eleanor with Tahani

Parks & Rec ABSOLUTELY becomes Mike Schur’s baby and early on, that’s not up for debate. Daniels largely moved onto other things. Season 1 was almost functionally an Office clone; Schur is what led to the sweetness rather than cynicism.

Jake and Amy also started to take a little bit of each other into themselves; like Amy would get a little more loose and Jake would actually read books.

Ann, that noble, poetic land-mermaid

And, sure enough, the show’s quality starts to decline exactly when Jim & Pam got together.

The episode with the skating rink is the one I keep coming back to. Both the A plot and the B plot - with Ben getting depressed and making a claymation - are perfect. “Together we can defeat obese children” might be the best line in the series. This is Parks’ version of The Office’s “Dinner Party” or 30 Rock’s “Leap

Found Brendanawicz everybody!

when voting blue is the only way to keep your reproductive rights you kinda dont have a choice

He’s an actor, not a political analyst. He doesn’t have to endorse candidates and people really shouldn’t care if he does. But he also doesn’t have to loudly announce that he is staying out of it if that’s what he wants to do. If you don’t want to say anything, then just don’t say anything. Don’t announce that you

I could only dream of being as simultaneously sarcastic and unflappable in a crisis as Jett Reno.

I agree. I’ve been happy about 404 Media and Aftermath’s paywalled comments sections, but they also started off as subscription sites. AVClub throwing one up later would not be great.

In principle I don’t mind the idea of posting comments being behind a paywall, especially if a site/community built up that way from the get-go, but to suddenly apply a paywall to the AV Club’s comments would permanently kill it. I don’t mind paying to support a site I use a lot (assuming it means I see no ads), but
