My thinking is that its not like the surfacebook. I’m thinking a configuration like the Wii U, but the gamepad is a handheld like the 3DS... hell the New 3DS could actually be the optional controller. Nintendo has already interconnected the 3DS with the Wii U in games (Smash bros is one example)

I’m thinking it will be backwards compatible. Nintendo has been the only one pushing it and given the way they release consoles they wont leave the last console high and dry... Then again they said they wont stop supporting the Wii U when the NX platform releases so it could easily be the first of their disk based…

You do realize that Sony copied Nintendo right? Remember the GBA gamecube link cable? One of the first games that used this type of technology was Legend of Zelda Wind Waker (the multiplayer in the game)
