Sure. There are a number of caveats. I’d suggest that that this would need to be repeated (ideally with unlimited road) with a production-spec car.

I own one and would not be caught dead in it with a harlequin paint scheme!
This particular purchase may not have been sneaky, but it does seem like there should be some application of insider trading laws for those making policy decisions that don’t actually work for the companies they’re investing in.
Answer: NONE. It’s stupid.
Sorry, not sorry, if that hurts your feelings.
EDIT: Maybe a clown car.
The one big upgrade here over a factory M Roadster is the rear diff upgrade. This dual-ear diff mount upgrade is well-established at this point due to the ease with which 6-cyl Z3's crack the rear diff mounts and separate the rear trunk floor, but it’s also a pricey bit of work.
Or not. M3 CS’ sat on dealers lots past their model year. GTS’ were a similar issue. Both required big discounts to move them.
At least it retains the center console arm rest! M3/M4/M2 CS all ditch it for an alcantara-wrapped piece of 2x4.
Maybe. It’s hard to say. Would they size it all to optimize top speed? Continuous WOT? Extended track use? IDK. The more cooling they have, the more drag they also have as a result. Also, sitting at WOT in that car for 30+ sec straight will never be done outside of a top speed run due to lack of room. I’m just saying…
It’s important to note that this run was independently verified by Racelogic, who was on-site, so there should be no further questions on validity (or at least they can back it all up with data).
Thanks! I had one for the last 9 years or so that I bought with 16k miles and drove to only 22k miles, but lost it in a total loss accident last year :(
IDK how much anyone has bothered over the years. The 3.4 drops right in to make a good bit more power. I think a Lumina 3.4 DOHC would be a great swap for this car! Just not for a 23k mile 1-owner ‘88 GT ;)
Thanks! So did I! I expected $18-20k, easy. The guy who was bidding against me would’ve gone over $20k, but he had a technical glitch and his computer’s clock got out of phase with BaT’s and his counter bid to mine didn’t go in! Sucks for him and the seller - genuinely - but good for me, of course.
1st Gear: “These are broad trends, mind you. For the rest of us, Bring A Trailer will always operate as its own sub-economy.”
I’ve had to invest heavily in sweat pants.
Yeah my solution was to plug my laptop in via HDMI, but I agree. How do they not simply have a native TV app?
It doesn’t rain in Texas, right?
Exactly. I didn’t go so far as to assume it would be winter-driven, but it certainly could be. 1-wheel drive to 2-wheel drive is a 100% upgrade!
I was going to say that getting that same power out of the older car, while possible, would likely come with some attribute trade-off. Namely noise.
That’s pretty cheap for an LSD. It’s nice that everything is so cute and small ;)
I’d think upgrading to OEM Club dampers/springs/swaybars should be entirely possible. Just…
Yes. There are too few small car options available, the 500 Abarth and Abarth Spyder are fun little cars that deserve a place in the marketplace. The 500X is actually a decent little crossover. The lack of new product is just killing them, though.
On the Miata topic, ask yourself what would be easier to upgrade in the future? An LSD and suspension are not necessarily cheap, but they are upgradeable in one’s own garage when money becomes available. In contrast, getting the hp bump of the newer car, which may be the difference between being satisfied with the…
