Just bought this guy this past weekend, am I doing it right?

It could alert other owners of 115 year old steam cars of a potential issue. Maybe the NTSB will want a recall.

This report is focusing on the future of long haul electric semis, vehicles that aren’t going to be charging at someone’s house. And the idea appears to be that if truck stops want to support a lot of EV semis charging quickly, then they’re going to need a ton of power.

The Rubicon deserves a place on every off road list, especially in 2 door form. Tiny with locking diffs plus its half the price of the 392s, Raptors, etc.

I’m going with the Wrangler Rubicon. I know it’s an off-road vehicle already, but the rubicon as an out of the box factory vehicle is astonishingly different off-road than a standard wrangler. Dana 44s front and rear, 4.10 gearing, front and rear lockers, 4:1 transfer case. Newer ones have electronic sway bar

Of the more hardcore off-road pickup truck offerings, I feel like the Ram 2500 Power Wagon is the most honest. No, it doesn’t have the bragging numbers of the TRX or other BD-energy bro-dozers But it’s more capable than your basic tire-and-lift package, comes with plenty of usable features, and can do real work. It’s

You didn’t mention this in the story, but when you borrowed the Escalade, did the owner tell you it was a diesel? I can’t imagine even considering the possibility if I wasn’t told explicitly. Also, I know others that have made this error, it can happen pretty easily from simple muscle memory.

Block heater.

I agree.

Nobody is going to buy this to go into the plow business, it’s more a conveinience plow rig to do their own driveway. That being the case, it’s possible that it’s never been a winter daily, just a homeowner plow rig. Not as much exposure to road salt.

Even if you DO have the skill, sometimes you need to walk away FOR THE DAY.

The main issue here is that plug-in hybrid + long trips does not make sense. If this is going to be a station-wagon daily driver, then get the PHEV. If this is mainly for long trips, the PHEV part is really not that beneficial, and might actually be a penalty because you’re hauling around a bigger battery that is not

I can check every box. Might be hard to find, but even BaT prices are typically less than $50k in good condition

I’d much rather see charging stations at restaurants and shopping centers than gas stations, to be honest. Waiting 30 minutes at a gas station can seem like an eternity. But charging while you’re shopping for groceries or on a road trip, while you’ve stopped for lunch... you’ll never even notice it.

You also have to drive to a gas station once a week. I fill up in my garage. So what if my road trip takes an extra 45 minutes once a year

I have a spreadsheet I’ve used to realistically compare my ICE vehicles to potential EV replacements. The $/kWh is hugely important in this calculation. If I’m overnight charging at home for my daily commute, EV is hugely cost efficient from a $/mile perspective.

The best things come in twos.

Jeep owners have been dealing with this shit forever.

That 2 liter 4 cylinder isn’t putting down 375 hp. That is the ICE + electric combined number. At first I was thinking Stellantis was going to give AMG a run for its money in a 2 liter turbo 4.
