i mean this with absolutely no snark: i’ve never “gotten it” with Grey Gardens + the Beales. i’m a person who is interested in Most Stuff, but just have never understood the source and longevity of the fascination. anyone know of a good explainer?
they hate each other. they act like playing basketball together is the shittiest call center job or something, and they can barely drag themselves in to work in the morning. Cavs players out here like just keeping my head down so i can head home at 5 o’clock on the dot and crack open a dozen Coors Lights.
spent much of the game yelling “you’re on the same team, idiots!”
yep, exactly this. he really strikes me as a guy with a tough inner life.
honestly, it strikes me as a mental health thing as much as a physical injury concern. everyone’s correctly noting that even injured players show up to cheer on the team, definitely during playoffs, and definitely if you’re a star player for your team. to not even be there is...really odd.
Just a note to say thanks for this piece, Anna, and the conversation it is sure to generate.
“kept it casual” is one of my favorite Daily Mail euphemisms. “ah yes, this? sweatpants, ratty t-shirt, laundry day underwear. i am keeping it casual!”

more wigs in politics needed, i say
yep, i am here for this comment and here for this show!
just a note to say that now many (perhaps most) EOAAs have on staff former district attorneys (“the chief law enforcement officer and top prosecutor of that state’s jurisdiction.”).
yep. only Kylo Ren though, not Adam Driver.
Madeleine Davies, I will never not appreciate all your weird Wisco references. House on the Rock is WEIRD AF.
