Sure but does “the paper of record” have to dignify it with an op-ed?  This is tabloid bullshit that any serious journalist should be well above.

The question I have is how the New York Times editors read the piece and thought yeah sure let’s publish.

I’m not particularly a Swift fan (to put mildly and politely) but somehow found myself reading that NYTimes piece. It was horrifying and said way more about toxic fanbases than Swift herself. I also noted that it was the same writer who accused Harry Styles of queerbaiting. I can’t believe it was given that level of

I thought about this but the way characters exit and enter the narrative including player decisions would have made this very difficult to work with.

Though more importantly I’ll take this as a single player experience over the risk that making it co-op would have turned it into another live-service game ala Avengers.

Hard disagree. It was one of the best games of 2022.

If you want an unmitigated tragedy, there’s always ‘Secret Invasion’.

This wasn’t a ‘pattern of behavior’ thing

It’s always comforting to see someone who gets why AI taking over art is a very bad thing, but in case it wasn’t clear enough, here’s how it all goes down:

They most likely know about it much more than you do. How can I tell? Because if you did look into it, you would know why they are saying the things they say (hint: it is not because of sci-fi movies) and you would try to address their concerns with an actual argument (no, ‘you are idiots’ is not an argument).

Being a racist bigot isn’t a mental illness. Stop tarring those of us who deal with actual mental illness with the same brush you use to discuss entitled, racist, transphobic assholes. They are not remotely the same thing.

It’s illuminating to see Elon’s mental illness unfold in real time on Twitter

did you see Elon’s response? Of course it was basically “John Oliver was funny until he got WOOOKKKEEEEE”

I normally like Oliver but he’s flat out wrong being impressed with Musk, aside from him being a shrewd businessman, knowing when to invest and hiring smart people. That is all he should be credited with, period.

Musk is human garbage. There. Saved you 30 minutes.

Yeah, if anything, I thought they painted Musk in a way too positive light. The piece seemed to buy in to the Great Man theory, which made me squirm at various points.

At the end of the episode Oliver lists some stories they meant to cover and gave me the ultimate validation: car headlights have indeed gotten brighter and are pointed pretty directly in other drivers’ eyes. It just seems so insane the auto industry lets this happen, I’ve assumed I’m just a crank. Guess both things

Holy crap someone else who actually remembers the days where people were mad that Valve were the arbiters of what got released on PC.

there used to be something like that...but people complained about Valve “Gatekeeping”...so they changed it to $100 and you can put up your game.

“You throw stones, and I’ll build a bridge out of them”
