Yeah, I squirreled some money away so I could take 6 months off...about a month ago. I’m getting pretty anxious; went to a job interview the other day. Manager pulled his mask down and asked, “So why did you leave your last job?”

F1 just successfully pulled off a weekend with 4000+ negative tests, so even for one weekend, I’m mighty impressed at the level of coordination they pulled off (after a fuckload of work). Not expecting anything will stick beyond a week or two, and it’s only a matter of time until a driver or a team boss gets it, but

Now playing

You can do a part 2 to this, I reckon, where Reiter kept at this platform with the Murcielago R-SV, which proved to be a bigger success story in FIA GT1.

If you want to shift as late as possible, you can glance at an analogue tach for a couple milliseconds and your brain will know how long you have until you need to shift, because it told you where in the range you were AND how quickly you were moving through the range.

I suggest an experiment. Everybody send me your supercars and I will see what sort of MPG they get at 200+ MPH.

If you look at modern aircraft displays, many of them have gone back to skeuomorphic engine displays because they are easier for pilots to glance at and quickly interpret the necessary information.

Somebody doesn’t understand rock crawling. Unless that’s wheelspin.

Until it comes time to replace a worn premium part that has features you never used. You never paid the upgrade to use the adaptive m suspension, so when it comes due, you swap it with a cheaper alternative. You didn’t pay extra for the autobraking feature and get in a small fender bender. You’re not going to pay for

So you’d rather be required to pay $6500 for a big ass option package, rather than $1k for the ones you actually want?

To play the devil’s advocate, this lowers manufacturing costs and BMW has witnessed the reaction to Tesla’s marketing and distribution strategy. Remember, BMW isn’t making cars for Jalops - it’s making cars so it’s shareholders are pleased. The kidney design (for distinction in high-volume markets, like China) and OTA

look, 1-1/2 green beans should be enough for anybody.

Also, some of this...”Don’t do HDR, just because...”

Because of ridiculous traffic and overinflated housing prices, though, not because it’s southern/redneck/racist/whatever.

Never forget that the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia represents three terrible sins

It will be ok to continue to paint your charger Blue, give it the number 1-0, put an American Flag on the roof, and name it the General Grant

One has to understand the geometry of leading link fork construction, but that is the least of your troubles, The bigger physics question comes very rapidly upon one, and then the oddness of small steering inputs becomes someone else’s problem. Slowing the thing down is not so easy.

This looks kind of cool? like in a movie where society has fallen and survivors have to patch things together kind of way.

It’s not so much that they can’t, as that it’s not practical.  You don’t spend a year or two building your race team then double it’s size in a month for just one race.

That would require complete second crews, among other things. 24 hours is unbelievably hard on mechanics, for example. Also the cost of tires, fuel and spares for 24 hours of wheel to wheel competition is insane enough as is, double that and the costs skyrocket.

Jeez louise, can we get a remaster of Burnout 3: Takedown already?
