I really really wish there were better licensing standard in this country, and better traffic enforcement.

There are lots of people who, while you are trying to get a reasonable distance in front of the person you just passed, will just get right on your ass and squeeze through the tiny gap to pass on your right, because they simply cannot be arsed to wait another five seconds to do things safely.

It’s not the most...aesthetic implementation of a rainbow theme, no, but for taking the piss out of online trolls it’s *excellent*

Explain to me how that’s not a tax.

“You can’t let teams decide they’re going to withdraw, then rejoin”

Well that’s pretty much what happened, with the race result being determined by qualifying time...

Nah, there’s no can of worms opened that wasn’t already. Teams have *always* been able to repair their cars, change tires, downforce, etc. under red flag. Yes, it is a somewhat absurd rules allowance that should be closed, but it’s been that way for a while now.

Obviously not everyone has a need to purchase a trailer for themselves. But if you have a car that needs trailering, it’s very very easy to get to the break-even point on owning a trailer. One full autocross season would need 20 days of rental in a year, minimum, for example.

The whole business with repairing Perez’s car was also quite confusing. I was very amused that no one seemed to be sure if the race had actually “started” or not. In any case, one of two things happened at the end of the day. Either

Very similar thing happened in WEC at Fuji in 2012 or so. The entire six hours was either behind safety car or under red flag, but points were awarded at the end of the day.

I was right on the edge of subscribing to Defector, but I just don’t care about stick & ball sports in any way to justify it fully. But a Defector-style Jalopnik, absolutely.

I find it very strange that someone would bother to manual-swap this car. Even if the factory automatic exploded, why bother? Just get a new car. Doing a transmission swap like that can’t be cheap, and this isn’t even a special car. Gotta be some sort of money laundering deal at the price he’s asking. Just crazy.

At least with the tide pods they learned their lesson.

I would submit that highway driving actually does have fewer “hard things” to deal with than the given example of driving in Boston...I’ve driven in Boston, and a number of other cities, but I don’t have any hard literature to reference offhand to back that up, so maybe you’re right *shrug*

Also also, if the door came open in an accident, you no longer had a seatbelt on.

I’m not sure where you got “level 2 conditions” out of my post.

The thing is though, if we can successfully fully automate that “easy” 80% of driving, that is the biggest benefit to me, the consumer. Imagine a cross-country road trip: You could do the “hard” but short task of getting out of town onto the interstate, and then watch movies and have naps for the next 40 hours or so

I’ve never heard of any macroscopic effects of gravity being referred to as “gravity waves” before. The term has always referred to the LIGO stuff every time I’ve read it.

Meanwhile, at TFSport:

What is the difference between gravity waves and gravitational waves?
