The show has always allowed some levity. Sam’s stuff is, admittedly, bordering on goofy but that’s his life now. Absurd. Weighed against Theon succumbing to PTSD once Yara was captured and literally jumping ship was more than grown-up enough to balance it out.

I give him props for orchestrating the death of Jon Arryn and Joffrey. I’m drunk and it’s been a while since I read the books. He’s had his fingers in a lot of pies. And he will lose. Shit got away from him and now he doesn’t have much left. He has to get Sansa if he’s to gain anymore footing.

This. Realize this is what the show wants us to think, this is what we’re supposed to assume about Sansa. But where has it been put into practice? She sent a note and didn’t tell Jon. It worked out great in the end but it wasn’t a multi-layered plot unfolding after years of careful cultivation. Sansa is Cersei-level…

Yes! I love their interactions, both in the book and show. Jon’s first lesson in leadership: using your privilege to help others. And also the whole “Wesr it like armor” thing, which is one of the best lines from anything, ever.
There was an interview - I forget if it was a video or in print - where Kit discusses Jon’s increased confidence this season. So there’s that.
