I wasn’t saying small cheap cars will come back - just that feature bloat has brought prices higher because people here keep paying them. The base Civic sold in Canada will meet all of the safety regs we have here but is $3000 cheaper because it includes less “nice to have” but not necessary stuff. That’s a

Bored and it would take some money too. The intercooler is clearly all fucked up. The rear diff looks like it’s toast based on the rear left wheel being gone. This thing is way too gone for that swap. But I’m pretty sure there will be more wrecked QF’s soon that aren’t quite as mangled. It’s a crazy amount of

GM no longer offers regular cab Colorados because you’re one of only a handful of people who bought them back then. Heck, Toyota doesn’t offer a regular cab Tacoma anymore either. The modern day spiritual successor to a Colorado regular cab with a few options is the Ram 1500 Tradesman. You can add the V8 and power

My hope is that when the financing bubble pops we will see the new car market adjust accordingly. Not a return of super basic crank window cars exactly, but maybe things like the Civic DX sold in Canada for $3,000 under the LX that is the base here yet still includes things like keyless entry and and power windows.

What prices are you looking at?! Adjusted for inflation, $18k is about $20,400. The base price of a current Colorado is $20,055. The Frontier is ancient, but it starts at $18,500. The Tacoma starts at $25k but is arguably an even better deal because it doesn’t depreciate so if you stretch your budget to afford it

Considering that this is a QF there is probably a decent amount of salvageable stuff in there. Looks like the turbos could be OK. For $500-1000 you could probably make a profit if you can get over the fact that the biohazard damage almost certainly means the drivers was killed.

Yes, blood. Typically that means someone died in the wreck.

I haven’t had a chance to really test Night Shift yet, but F.lux was having a noticeable impact on my Air’s battery life. I’m hoping a native version won’t be as bad. I’ll keep using F.lux if Night Shift also kills the battery, but the battery life is more important to me than the extra options.

Not all cars depreciate that rapidly, though. 7 year old Toyota Tacomas in trims that cost around $30k new, for instance, are selling locally near me for right between $15-20k. If you took out a 7 year note on one of those, you’d be above water the whole time. Other examples are Jeep Wranglers and Subaru WRX’s.

I want to do this with a 2006 GTO and call it the Mountain Goat.

Eh. Different generation, different design. Also, that was the only issue the Fit had while we had it and apparently it isn’t all that common.

Bork bork!

The last Honda I had didn’t leak/burn out, but it need a half shaft at 70k after blowing a seal and leaking everywhere (‘08 Fit).

They tried pretending, it didn’t work and they got sued, now everyone has an extended warranty. What will be interesting going forward is seeing how long the replacements last and if they can be limped along by topping up oil or if the the oil burning fouls up the valvetrain to the point they die.

It gets by the piston rings. Problem made worse by the fact that this was their first attempt at using 0W20 oil. I’m not sure if it its the rings or the cylinder walls in the block. Not all of the FB25's do it - we also have a 2013 Outback with 62k on it and it hasn’t had oil consumption issues. The rumor I’ve

It shouldn’t hurt. Long recommended intervals were part of the initial problem. We also have a 2013 Outback with the FB25/CVT and we got a letter/bulletin in 2013 revising the oil change intervals from 7,500 to 6,000 miles. They also seem to be a little picky about what oil you use. I’ve been taking my to the

I have a 2014 with the 6MT and it has felt like an amazing value. The handling is surprisingly decent and the AWD has really been great in the heavy rains that makes roads slick here in TX. The stick does help make it a touch quicker and more lively to drive. My engine is eating oil and it needs a short block at

My 2014 is eating oil and about to be replaced at 50k. But from all accounts, the problem has since been corrected.

This deserves a better name than “720S”

This totally unmodified stock Nissan S14. In 2016.
