This hit me hard...I lost my mom to dementia in August...it has been a transformational, raw 2019 for me too. And yes...you’ll be alright, I’ll be alright and hopefully so will everyone else who has experienced or is currently in the midst of this. Here’s to a good-ish 2020!

Purse chicken IS the best chicken. I sincerely thought I coined that phrase after a long day of drinking at Coop’s in New Orleans in 2006, but I guess I’m not as cool as I thought. I always take a piece of purse chicken to go when I’m there...you will ALWAYS be happy to find it, at least within the first 24 hours.

As someone who was voted 2nd ugliest girl in the 5th grade in a slam book, I am VERY proud of these girls not taking this shit. I’m 44 and STILL get cranky about it every now and again.

As someone who is currently watching her young-ish mother in the late stages of dementia...it is wildly horrifying. The brain is amazing and terrifying. I don’t know what my brain’s future holds, but just hope that someone much smarter than me will find the key to prevent it. They are getting closer.

Currently my life..I recently dropped 1/3 of my body weight (partly due to the stress of a dying mother, and partly working out and eating better). It’s weird how many people feel that they need to tell me that they notice.

I can empathize and am so sorry you are going through this...as someone who is watching her young-ish mother’s brain rapidly slide into nothing (dementia)...the grief is daily, and sometimes the burden of that grief can be monumental, especially for my father, since he’s the primary caregiver.
