Born in Garoua, North Cameroon.

The dog hitting the baby in the face was my favourite because that is my house everyday. I think my kids actually developed thicker facial skin as a result of the repeated beatings. They don't even notice it anymore.

This child was sold into a lifetime of rape, torture, and slavery. Then she had to fucking cater the party that celebrated the transaction. I'm not a big fan of murder, but I can see the justification in this.

A child defending themself from being raped and forced into a lifetime of slavery and sexual abuse is wrong? I don't think she needs to be punished at all. Shame on you for your bullshit, "Murder is wrong and she needs to be punished." Fuck you for saying a girl shouldn't be able to defend her body and her life.

My puppy-rabies is far stronger than my baby rabies, so my favorite parts were "pug is excited to see daddy, too!" and "big dog is so excited he whacks baby in the head with his tail"

Or maybe mom gets home before dad? Or maybe it's Saturday and dad was out? Or maybe dad's coming home from the grocery store? It's a cute video, not an accurate depiction of all people and families. Are we not allowed to enjoy this particular cuteness because not everyone gets to have the same parenting experience?

They sold her. Like a goat. It's not really "marriage" as we know it. "Marrying off your child" is too nice. They knew (like all families who do this) that she was set for a life of rape and slavery. Is this a cultural tradition? I don't fucking care, and neither I'd imagine do most of the girls.

This is absolutely true, and as a scientist, it is so aggravating to me when I see men try to use fertility as some pseudo-evo psych justification for their inappropriate attractions to young teen girls.

I come from one of those poor Rural places, stop the generalizations. Her family fucking fail her. One of the first source of income in those rural places is farming. They could have had her at the farm like most people in those rural places do. But no they prefer marrying a child to this man.

We need to stop calling it "marriage." These are not "child brides."

Ew, that was one creepy comment. Who suggests that an underage bride is something a man can "earn"?

Most people don't think aboutthe health consequences of teen pregnancy because there's a popular myth that the younger a woman is the more fertile she is. WHO released a study in 2012 (or so) on the high maternal mortality rates teenagers giving birth face as wellas the higher rates of complications and permanent

For our usual MRA crowd that wants to bring up that killing him and his friends was wrong, I want to remind you that child brides often are forced into incredibly violent domestic situations, besides the rape. To the point that it's torture, and not just at the hands of the husband. Multiple perpetrators are involved.

I hope this gains enough international attention so that she gets a fair trial. I can't imagine the situation she was in, and I'm finding it difficult to feel compassion for the three other people who died since they were there to celebrate her legally mandated rape.

Right there with you. I don't think an eight-year-old has the developed emotional range for it to be anything but amazingly coached; also, since it's Norway, I'm assuming she doesn't speak English, at least not fluently. But I'll have to check out some other clips.

I can't be the only one who's a little creeped out by this, right? Right?

She's Norwegian. Dark wells of emotional trauma are a cultural marker.

She's an impressive singer, but its very disturbing to hear that much adult longing and sadness coming out of an 8-year old. I am hoping she is simply a savant and not pulling this from some dark well of emotional trauma.

Dodai, I would love if you would do one of these with bridal magazines. Some of that shit is equally bananas, just in fewer hues. Ladies who wear their skinny jeans and cardis and Tory Burch flats on the regular go APESHIT when it comes to wedding fashion, and suddenly there are more ruffles and sparkles than Liberace
