Exactly, Nier is the sort of high caliber of Japanese sci-fi, metaphysical, sociological narrative that no longer exists. Gundam, Akira, Evangelion, Big O, MGS2... it was so great to experience another narrative that pushed the limits of critical thought like the stories that inspired me as a teenager.
