@JerryMouse: Thanks for the tip, but my school computers are archaic and haven't upgraded to windows 7 yet. And even if they did, I would still delete the icons, just because they're freshmen =)

@StrangeRider: you can still do that, you just have to delete the icons instead of hiding them. then it's an extra bonus that the person has to go manually hunt down all those programs and put the icons back on the desktop. I used to do that to teach the freshmen to log off before they left the classroom.
