Am I awful in thinking that the issue is less the non-casting of Banks and the casting of Maguire? Peter Parker is a high-school senior. At no point in Spider-Man does Maguire look like anything other than an older dude with large eyes pretending to be a high schooler.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if the school were just to say “no hats.” It’s a common enough rule. I wasn’t allowed to wear hats indoors in any of the schools that I went to as a kid.

We do Christmas and Hanukkah. Christmas is easy to do in a non-religious way (Santa and what not). For Hanukkah we just added the Hanukkah fairy (looks like a miniature Mel Brooks with butterfly wings) and it’s just about lighting candles (and presents for 7 days... or is it 8?).
