Dammit. Now I gotta watch Dr Phil.
Exactly. From Kolar’s book, (he was the DA’s lead investigator for a while and is participating in the show) he strongly suggests that Burke committed the act and the parents covered it up, but the DA was so invested in the intruder theory, that she wouldn’t let him pursue it.
You can’t understand human fascination with unsolved mysteries?
If you’re interested in the case, read James Kolar’s book Foreign Faction. He completely dismantles the intruder theory, which is the direction the cbs show seems to be taking. It also talks a lot about the internal politics of the police department and the D.A.’s office. SUPER interesting.
I’d rather just rewatch Friday Night Lights for the 30th time. You know they’re going to do the whipped cream bikini thing again and it will be cheesier the 2nd time around.
I’m very much into stuff like this (murder mysteries). It’s so weird how much of this case I remember from when it happened and I was only 9 at the time.
+1000 for great reference!
Perfect timing, just this morning I was listening to the Generation Why podcast about Jon Benet’s death, which is very thorough in their discussion of the forensic evidence and mistakes made in the investigation. I highly recommend it to people interested in the case, especially those who think the parents are not…
Given the fact that an hour supposedly passed between Jon Benet being hit over the head, and being strangled, I’m guessing that Burke accidentally hurt her, the parents thought she was dead, then they wrote the lengthy note (using a pad from the home and putting the pen back in the place where pens go, what intruder…
so here for this. this was the case that got me into true crime
They should team up with CNN’s dogged coverage and call it Where All The White Women At
I hate when people say shit like that. It’s up there with “do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”.
*Double bird-flip, to La Toya*
Woman, you’ve lived on this planet (presumably, at least) for 60 years. Your showbiz family is about as dysfunctional as showbiz families have ever been. Your own sister has suffered from severe depression and anxiety.
You should know better, by now. On behalf of the millions of people…
Speaking on behalf of millions of depressives: shut the fuck up, LaToya.
But like, how do you know it’s really really safe? and real? and how do you know the “person” is the actual “person”? and do you care, because, really, money is money? I’m just fascinated.
Only one. I dated this nerd to make him look cool because I really needed the money to replace the white suede outfit I had borrowed without my mom’s permission.
Same—this is so clearly abusive behavior and so familiar I got freaked out and scared watching it. I believe Amber 100%.
