Dear Andrea,

Shout out to everyone who has thought Jay Hernandez was hot since they saw that hot mess movie Crazy/Beautiful.

As someone who has never watched this show, never will, and cheered when I heard it was going to end, this is the content I need.

Martha even found a way to make prison charmingly quaint. She went away for selling stock on an insider tip to avoid a $45,000 loss — which in the context of today’s nakedly lawless plutocracy feels only slightly more sinister than jaywalking.

I transferred to her high school as a junior in 1958, and Martha (a senior) was assigned to show me around. I was a monumental dork, but she was gracious and friendly. I didn’t exactly stalk her, but I made it my business to be in her presence during the first few weeks. When she said, “Hi, Casey” other people took it

Bitch.... Michelle O accomplished more in her life BEFORE she became first lady than you and your whole tornado bait trailer trash family have ever even read about. Double Ivy League Graduate. Lawyer. Hospital Administrator. Mother. Go getter. Accomplisher of many things, not the least of which is to be married to a

I read a comment a while back that said, basically, “If you look at American politics like a game of chess, Republicans have set the house on fire, and Democrats are still sitting at the table trying to be polite and play by the rules.” I think that’s painfully, depressingly apt, and it shows no chance of changing any

Casting Andre Braugher as the precinct captain was fine. Making him half of a gay couple? Brilliant.

they also casually had a gay couple walking around the good place, and i was mentally bracing for the impact of the “gays in heaven ? huh..” joke... and it just never came and it all was never adressed. so refreshing.

I *died* during the scene where they were showing her the weapons they taileored for her.

Spy ended up being one of my favorite comedies of ALL TIME. From the disguises they kept giving her, to Jason Statham parodying Jason Statham, to the dynamics between Melissa and Rose Byrne...I was cry laughing.

If you look at the credits, Allison Jones is the one who he usually uses as the casting director on his stuff. Once I started noticing her name on stuff I began to see it almost every time I was watching a show or movie that had a really solid cast.

I had zero expectations going into this movie and came away fucking loving it. Every single person in it was so GD funny.

As much as I love Jason Statham doing his Jason Statham thing, Spy tells us what he really ought to be doing with his time is parodying the Jason Statham thing.

Also, Jason Statham is a treasure. That is all.

Spy is also just endlessly quotable. At least for me.

Another creator who is definitely a good man is Mike Schur. I was just listening to him on the first episode of the Good Place podcast and he was clear that he *always* envisioned the cast as diverse one, and that is so much. And I can never forget Melissa Fumero’s story of being so simultaneously proud of Stephanie

Paul Feig will also produce movies where the relationships between women are important and the boyfriend/romance takes a back seat. See: Spy, The Heat, and in fact, Bridesmaids is mostly about the relationship between the women. The wedding is an end-of-the-film setpiece, and the romance is pretty much B-plot. Also,

This is one of the biggest problems women face - the idea that as long as they don’t “put up with any inappropriate behaviour”, nothing bad will happen to them. Ergo, any woman who gets harassed or assaulted MUST have inadvertently or deliberately encouraged the man.

A source said that Chua quickly responded, saying that her own daughter would not put up with any inappropriate behaviour.”
