I’ve just learned this word thanks to a cryptic crossword (I had to google to work it out), so I am thrilled to actually see it used.

This reminds me of something my Nan used to do. She lived in a retirement home in England. During elections, the parties used to arrange free cars to shuttle residents to the booths. She voted Labour, but she’d call the Tory car, so that it was tied up with her for a while.

This is why everyone needs to tell their family their feelings about these kind of decisions, even if it seems like something that will be irrelevant for years.
Surely Katie Holmes is the cautionary tale against this idea?
