To make it even more painfully clear, this is the Spanish Opel Cosa range. The one I’d consider is the entry level 1.2T. That still does 0-60 in 10 seconds or so and tops out at 110mph or thereabouts, both of which are enough. Most importantly it costs half as much as the entry level electric version.

Such a shame they are not trying to sell it here. They would fail where Lexus and Infiniti have failed before, but it would definitely be a stylish failure.

You are not wrong, however I am looking at it from an European perspective.

This. I wanted a commuter electric car. But:

The 911 Turbo wasn’t a trim level, it was literally a 911 with turbocharger strapped onto it.

I’m sure the GT3 Touring will eventually make an appearance in the 992 range.

I understand that they were not comfortable with four digit project numbers, that’s why they went backwards.

They do. Or lack thereof, to be more precise.

Never, I guess. I remember when 300bhp was a lot of power.

If it floats your boat, why not?

This... makes all the sense in the world, unfortunately.

I can see the appeal of something that is very discreet and normal looking but can eat miles at an astonishing rate.

You’ve got your numbers all mixed up. It would be far too long to delve into Porsche project numbers but in essence: the 911 was Porsche’s 901th project but then Peugeot protested saying that they held the rights to all model numbers with a zero in the centre. So it became the 911.

Is it the fastest way to cross countries this side of a bullet train or a plane?

Devaluation of the name which first occurred in 1987 with the 3.2 Carrera when the Carrera name was first applied to a base version. And the rest is history as they say.

Exactly there is no “news” as such in this article.

I am on 10th consecutive “working from home week”. Colleagues may start to slowly return to the office from this/next week but my team will be staying home longer as our job can easily be done remotely.

If done properly an hipotetical (mass produced) Coupé should be more affordable than the Roadster. The 1.5 litre version could start at low 20’s.

I had an MX-5 and I’d have another one, but if it was a Coupe there would be no doubt.

I’d prefer if the MX-5 was offered as a proper hardtop coupe instead of a silly automated targa roof.
