Sorry for being out of touch, but someone sued Ford because the gearbox was rubbish? My car has a bad gearbox, but I wouldn’t sue the manufacturer for that...

The Giulietta drives rather decently, but avoid the dual clutch gearbox.

Hell, even Alfa Romeo’s start every morning!

The first family car I can remember is a 1986 Renault 11 GTL. It ran over 120,000 miles realiably. The only time which I can remember not starting was due to a dead battery, the car was jump started and off we went.

I once drove current gen Aveo saloon 1.3 diesel. I remember it for being completely unremarkable.

Can you imagine if instead of a Kia we were speaking about an Alfa Romeo? $34 grand repair bills every week!

They do look amazing. And they have a normally aspirated V12 up front. Pure car-porn for the discerning connoisseur.

If I concentrate really hard and go really slowly I can get up to 50mpg though.

Well, then, at least it is the worst car I have ever driven.

Then the question begs, if they are not being used, why have 8 speeds?

Citroën DS4?

Counterpoint: This is wrong.

A diesel it is indeed, a bit more to the south.

Here in Spain we used to like saloons as well (although more to the south than were I actually am) but they all been replaced by crossovers (Nissan Qashqais to be precise). So here is the same, pretty much the only private bought saloons are off-lease company cars.

They did, but it is rated in metric horsepower, they do not care about imperial units.

I see Insignias too (incidentally we were on a two car pack the other day on the motorway; me leading, the Opel behind) but they are mostly normally driven.

Understated elegance, was what Audis had. High quality without the need to advertise it. Sort of German Subarus and Saabs.

40k is a lot indeed.

I understand that as a Cadillac it was meh, but it was a fine Opel.

This is bigger than a 3 Series and more meant to compete with Scorpios, Safranes and whatever Rover would have been making at the time.
