I believe it has to do with emissions too.

And in the case of Subaru, Italians. Their early boxer engines were based around Lancia Gamma units.

He is not unlike Carlos Sainz (Sr.). Enormously talented, two championships, lots of team switches, bad luck and put rallying/F1 on the map in Spain.

I understand reduced inventory, then?

Saab was like Volvo a tiny company turning a tiny profit. Could they have survived without a large partner? Probably not.

They are also paying less to the workers due to reduced working hours, hence profitability with less cars (they probably reduced sticks greatly too)

I bought a brand new MX-5 so I contributed. Where is my Nobel Prize?

Back in the day we almost bought a 190bhp version to replace a 118d. Ended up passing.

A quick search shows that these go for around €2,500 here. And at least one had around 75,000 miles. I think that, much like yesterday’s car, this is here only due to relatively rarity in the US.

I thought that American cars were supposed to handle by now.

The issue was that they weren’t very successful, even in Europe so that is why Smart cancelled them.

The ForFour was a Mitsubishi Colt in drag, so if you got the Colt you got it. Otherwise pretty unremarkable (except perhaps for the Brabus version).

My question is, are those 2 litre engines exactly the same? I’d like to find out.

Except for the electric power steering, isn’t that exactly what the ND MX-5 is?

I am not talking about the options, design or trim. I’m talking about suspensions, brakes, engines, gearboxes, etc.

This. There were many other of this type of manufacturers, Lancia, Saab, Citroën, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, etc. All had their niches whatever they were, but we didn’t think them as premium. They just offered something else above the regular Renaults, Fords.
