Counterpoint: VW’s DNA also comes from NSU, specifically the K70.

Your next car should be an Alfa Romeo then. You’ll love it!

Honda even has a semi-premium image here, a little bit like Volkswagen.

None.

I love those supercharged Cooper Ss. We had one in BRG for around 6-7 years and it was flawless. Sure there were some perceived quality issues (trim around the b-pillar was flimsy at best), but they were mechanical, raw, exciting and even a little bit dangerous.

They are failing to meet their own targets.

Completely agree. We could also include the Gamma as an oddity from the Fiat days, if we are feeling generous.

By not coming anywhere near their (admiteddly impossible) sales targets.

If nobody buys performance cars off the dealers there will be no used cars to snatch off used car lots later on...

That is a tough question... manuals are enticing but car with a proper drivetrain layout and engine... we had an XF 4.2 back in the day, and boy was it a proper sports saloon.

European take here.

Oh, the Fusion does indeed come with a manual gearbox. Just not in America. And when it does have a row-your-own gearbox it is called Mondeo.

The good thing about monocoques is safety, space, lightness, packaging, manufacturing costs, etc.

Lancia will never be great again because because Lancia has no place these days.

I highly respect the passion, but the approach is not my cup of tea.

Where is the Cayenne? 🤔

Lewis did have a good charge back through the field, but he was undoubtedly helped by the safety cars. If it weren’t for then he would’ve finished 4th-6th at best.

The “nondescript” town of Arese? You mean the one that is home to one of the greatest car makers ever, Alfa Romeo?

This. Fours might work for mid-range models but when you are giving out 60 or 70 grand on a luxury car it should at least have a six.
