It was a pretty good kid’s movie and my niece enjoyed it. I personally thought it was a little too much “Ready Player One But With Mario” for my taste and ended up rolling my eyes everytime a (fellow) 40 year old gasped and pointed “HAHA I KNOW THAT REFERENCE” at the screen.

For at least some people, “elite” as a pejorative means “some group or status my money doesn’t grant me automatic access to.” Because the most offensive thing they can imagine is something that can’t just be bought, up to and including expertise, “good guy” status, and other people’s opinion.
